I remember seeing a poll on how most Britons don’t agree with this garbage. But they keep voting these people in.

I don’t think the Brits are voting them in. I think these are appointed bureaucrats - and once they’re in, you have to wait for ‘em to retire before your rid of them.
And meanwhile they’ve hired a bunch of paid staff who think just like they do...
It is just like that here.
