Conservative activists are preparing to do battle with allies of Sen. John McCain in advance of September's Republican National Convention, hoping to prevent his views on global warming, immigration, stem cell research and campaign finance from becoming enshrined in the party's official declaration of principles.

Exactly. He is obsessed with pushing amnesty and he knows how horrific the consequences will be for this country - unless he is delusional. No one who wants the best for this country would support amnesty, open borders, or vote against the Cronyn amendment.

His mind is not too sharp. He kept confusing the Shi’ites with the Sunnis, needed Lieberman at his side to whisper answers, has made too many gaffes for them to be merely slips of the tongue.

I called McCain's office today after receiving a letter asking for a donation to his campaign. I had to leave a message which I thought was rude since I had called another phone number and didn't get an answer to that either. In the message I told him that I could NOT donate to his campaign because of the high gas prices and the stress it has added to our finances. We are hardly the only Americans that have this problem but how many will complain to those who could do something NOW! THIS is the time to force their hands and do something now while they are asking for money. McCain needs to go to Washington and sponsor a bill that would drill now and begin to build nuclear energy, and tax credits for American that buy cars that get good gas mileage and a tax-cut incentive to the automobile companies to build flex-fuel cars. Obama is beginning to see the writing on the wall in regards to Iraq because things are going better and his trip to Iraq will confirm it. These politicians have the nerve to ask for money when they have done nothing for 30 years to get this country off of foreign oil!! They need to be told they will only get money if there is something done now. The candidate that gets out front and actually goes and does his job as Senator and fights for the American people to have new forms of energy and will drill now! And to hell with the Caribou.

This is a loser from the get-go. If McCain doesn’t want it, he ain’t gonna do it just because it is in the platform.
The Presidential Election is over for CONSERVATIVES. McCain is running to the middle as hard as he can, away from evangelicals and hard-core conservatives.
Waste of time at the convention.

One thing that’s GOT to change is that the primaries are held WAY too early. Frankly, I’d rather that there were no primaries at all than have them so darn early. Take the whole shootin’ match to the convention and settle it there! We end up taking out all the good candidates before we even let them mix it up.
But that doesn’t help us this time around. What’s done is done.

LOL! I’m no longer a Democrat. I have no party, and am increasingly coming to the conclusion that the Founding Fathers were right in their aversion to political parties. I keep the “RKBA Democrat” site handle as much for nostalgia as anything at this point.
I guess FR did rub off on me afterall.
As for “doing the Democrats bidding”, I guess you could make that accusation. The truth is, I couldn’t care less whether the Democrats win or lose at this point. Both major political parties are pretty much the same. While much effort and bandwidth is spent on FR trying to highlight the differences, the differences such as they are are fairly minor and inconsequential.

Domestic enemies will never be able to pass laws that abolish our constitution. There's no need to. They'll just continue passing laws chip away at our Constitutional protection, on behalf of the "children," with the encouragement of the People.

The Conservatives will get the Platform. The RINOs will get the nomination, and if elected, the Administration and all those cabinet appointments.
There is going to be massive, in-unison, throwing up here at FR (except among the most hardened Bushbot/McCainiac types) from December into Japan as Scarface announces socialist-light Cabinet secretaries, one after the other.

Both major political parties are pretty much the same.
While that's true in too many areas, it's not true w/respect to judicial appointments. McCain might appoint good judges, if only by accident (did GHWB mean to give us Thomas?). Obama would never have that accident.
Furthermore, while the parties are too similar, the men are not. Obama's an empty suit and to the extent he has a political background, it's very left wing. I can't believe the Dems are going to nominate this guy.
After 20 years of voting libertarian, I'm considering voting for John McCain, who is by far my least favorite R nominee to come along.

Saw a great commercial yesterday, cannot remember who it was.
Pro-life organizer sitting with his daughter,
addressing Barack Obama.
Tag line at end went something like,
“If Mr. Obama believes fatherhood begins at conception,
then when does she become my daughter?”
