Surveys show increasing support for ANWR drilling ( Democrats are worried )

Record-high gasoline prices are causing Americans to rethink their opposition to drilling for oil and natural gas in the coastal plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and other federal areas...

A nationwide survey by the Pew Research Center shows half of Americans now support drilling in ANWR, up from 42 percent five months ago.

And a CNN poll released Thursday found 73 percent of Americans favor exploration for oil and gas off the Pacific and Atlantic coasts.

The public’s changing energy priorities are most evident in the growing percentage that views increased energy exploration — including mining and drilling, as well as the construction of new power plants...

Support for energy exploration is at its highest level in a decade...

The change in attitude is most noticeable among Democrats, independents and young people...

A Los Angeles Times poll ...found 57 percent of respondents would support increased domestic drilling if it could be done without significant harm to the environment.

A recent Gallup poll found 57 percent of Americans support opening new areas to drilling.

“This is obviously a very challenging year for conservationists,” said Athan Manuel... for the Sierra Club.

Despite the challenges, Manuel believes Democratic leaders in Congress will maintain the moratoriums on exploration off the Atlantic and Pacific coasts and in ANWR.

Tired of $4.10/gal. gas? Vote the Democrats out!
This point can’t be made loudly or often enough this election year.

If the Republicans were smart, they'd ride this issue all the way to November.

IF...

If Republicans were smart they’d still be in control of the house and senate.

Dems are not smarter than Pubbies, but they are a great deal more tenacious.

But the Democrat playbook is to blame Bush for everything, including high gas prices. Maybe people are learning that it’s the Democrats who have hindered our energy supply development all these years.

Obama said he wants to invest $150 billion in clean green energy instead of drilling for more oil. Where the heck is he going to get $150 billion in a time of massive deficits and future issues like Social Security and Medicare funding hitting the desk of the next president?

Looks like the pendulum is finally starting to swing the other direction and the RATS are not getting it. Hopefully this will cost them dearly in the upcoming election.

Just as it took people a while to catch on to the ‘RAT “global warming” hoax, the ‘RAT plan to collapse our economy by denying America the energy it needs is also starting to become more apparent to John Q. Public. Good morning America!

Never could understand what people had against drilling in a wasteland of frozen tundra. The beautiful, pristine part of the region would be unaffected and would remain pristine.

If it is going to take 10 years,
shouldn't we get started?

Drill here, drill now, pay less

The fact the Sierra Club are not conservationists but prohibitionists notwithstanding, one could clearly state the chickens are coming home to roost.

Looking better when 57 percent of Americans support opening new areas to drilling.

I've had enough I am going to start calling Senator Casey and Representative Holden tomorrow.

I bet we are filling their tanks with taxpayer money.

Polls should ask who the consumer would prefer to buy their oil from, a Saudi, and Iranian, or an Alaskan.

Taxpayers footing bill for luxury rides

In defense of his taxpayer-funded Cadillac, Rangel says, “The car isn’t just a vehicle for getting around; it’s an important part of doing my job, and my constituents appreciate it.”

Thanks.

A leased vehicle is one of the optional benefits of serving in the House of Representatives. Taxpayers spend about $1 million per year to lease vehicles for 127 members of the House of Representatives...

Rep. Alcee Hastings, a South Florida Democrat, would likely win an award given to the most luxurious vehicle. Hastings leases a 2006 Infiniti M45 sedan that gets 16 miles per gallon in the city..

Rep. Charles Rangel, a New York Democrat, leases a 2006 Cadillac DeVille for $774 per month; Rep. Gregory Meeks, also a Democrat from New York, leases a 2007 Lexus LS460 for $998 per month.

I wish someone would propose a law that cars will no longer be supplied to any non-emergency personel at any govt. level. Beyond the President I don't see why we should be paying for vehicles. In my town I think the fleet has grown about 500% in the past 10 years. I don't think there are but a few office workers that don't have town vehicles.

There are more big pick-up trucks and SUVs riding around with town plates than I've ever seen. And don't even get me started on these fat asses in Congress getting chauferred around in their SUVs and Lincolns.

I don't have a problem with SUVs I drive one myself I just don't feel like paying for all of the govt. vehicles. I have to figure out how to get to and from work on my own, why can't they?

The millions of dollars Environmental special interests mean a hell of a lot more than political opinions of the peasants.

So you’ll pay the 5$ a gallon for gas and like it....
