Because the areas you listed are under US jurisdiction and therefore a person born there is indeed a citizen. However if Berry was born in a foreign country not considered US territory, he is disqualified period! His refusial to release his birth certificate is pretty damning of something, just like John Kerry refusing to sign SF180, otherwise why hide it?
IIRC the specifics of the claim is that Barry’s mama was 18 at the time of his birth, and the only way a US citizen can confer citizenship on a child NOT BORN in the US is if she had (at the time of the child’s birth) resided in the US for 5 years after the age of 16. She would not qualify under that provision, if Barry was NOT born in Hawaii.
Any candidate for President is required to prove he is a natural born citizen. Goldwater, McCain, & Romney can do so. Obama has not done so.
As a matter of fact; We, The People have no idea where, when, or to whom Obama was born. And make no mistake on this, the burden of proof is on Senator Obama.
A simple birth certificate supporting his “natural born citizen” status is all that is needed. Senator Obama is required to produce it. He has not done so. If he does not, he is disqualified by the highest law of the land...the Constitution.
At this very moment, Senator Obama is flouting the Constitution of the United States of America. It doesn't get anymore serious than that.
Either
a) The real birth certificate (original, not what a current record would show) would show that his stories of being the offspring of a poor goat-herder are lies, and thus his entire myth would be crushed
or
b) By letting people on the right speculate for an extended period they can wait and then, when they do produce the original birth certificate, completely discredit large parts of the right
I am leaning towards B, with the belief they are waiting until some mainstream reporters, and perhaps politicians, are caught in the net, so it has a greater impact.
As it stands the only people they would discredit now are a few small time Internet reporters, bloggers and “Israeli Insider” which, frankly, nobody had ever heard of before now.
To be eligible for the Presidency one must have been born within the United States or its territories, period.
Being a citizen isn’t enough. Yes, he would be a U.S. citizen if he was born overseas and his mother is a U.S. citizen. But he wouldn’t be eligible to be President.
