I would go for that, I met George Bush in March of 2000 and have been a loyal supporter ever since, the more history I read the better Bush appears.
I hope the McCain committee and Pres. Bush read every word of this NY Slimes article so that they can do the exact opposite.
***Hmmm, I thought he promised NOT to piss away American treasure and spill American blood on foreign adventures. ***
Hmmm...you’re calling 9/11 a “foreign adventure.” Were you there? Did you see the carnage? Would you have liked our President to just sit there and let them do it again?
Excuse me .. the last poll I saw showed that 76% of repubs HAD A FAVORABLE OPINION OF THE PRESIDENT - even though they didn’t agree with everthing he’s done or tried to do.
This is just more of the NYT trying to insert itself into our convention .. like we give a rip what those people think.
No, I agree completely! As I said, I have some problems with Pres. Bush. Border security and no amnesty for illegal aliens is one of them. But, again, we all knew that Bush had a soft spot in his heart(head?) for illegals in the country.
Even though Bush was on the wrong side of the issue, we still managed to stop the amnesty bill last year. And Duncan Hunter managed to get his border fence bill passed and signed into law by Pres. Bush. We do have successes to point to in this area but a whole lot more needs to be done.
Seems like the Dems have a lot more ‘splaining to do with Jimmy Carter.
agreed!
On the most central characteristics of the presidency president Bush has been I incredible.
Careful... too many leftist buzzwords in one sentence may arouse suspicion.
SPEAK FOR YOURSELF!...or is that the royal WE?
I didn't and I bet the millions of callers who shut down the DC phone lines didn't realize he would do this either!!!
Even though Bush was on the wrong side of the issue, we still managed to stop the amnesty bill last year
You mean the bill that will not die?...the bill that keeps coming back in other forms?...the bill that McCain & Obama can't wait to pass/enforce?...THAT BILL?
And Duncan Hunter managed to get his border fence bill passed and signed into law by Pres.Bush......HUH????????
You mean the bill that Hunter worked so hard for, and after the photo-op, Bush and Congress deliberately ignored, watered down and stonewalled?.....THAT BILL?
Stop ignoring the facts, upsdriver!..!!
Everyone is correct about 9/11, but our involvement in Kosovo hasn't made a lick of sense. When we're fighting the WOT, why are we helping to build an Islamic bridgehead in the heart of Eastern Europe?
While we had to do something about 9/11 in Afghanistan, spending the money of future generations of Americans in what's becoming an interminable war in Iraq to benefit the globe in hindsight makes less and less sense...and if Bush were really concerned about them not coming here, he'd secure the borders and the ports.
If Kosovo isn't a misguided Wilsonian adventure, then there never was one.
Real conservatives won't waste time watching the convention.
If you think we went in to benefit the globe (whatever that means), you weren't paying very close attention. We did it for our own security and the security of our allies, and we did the right thing.
Refresh me... when did President Bush invade Kosovo again?
He didn't, but to take on an unviable, artificially created country like Kosovo as a client is always an expensive proposition. Until Bush, I didn't think anyone could pee away public money as fast and as irresponsibly as a democrat.
I once believed that, and I also once believed in the Easter bunny.
You once believed it? What has since made you believe otherwise? The compelling arguments of Howard Dean, Ramsey Clark, Dan Rather and Jodie Evans?
Since you seem to have all the facts needed to exonerate Saddam Hussein and his regime at hand, maybe you could tell me why the Czechs really expelled Iraqi Consul Ahmad Khalil Ibrahim Samir al-Ani from their country on 4/21/2001.
While you’re at it, maybe you could also tell me how convicted WTC bomber/KSM associate Abdul Rahman Yasin made it onto Saddam’s payroll and managed to stay there for nearly ten years?
And what exactly was the deal with terrorist training camp at Salman Pak? You know, the one with the Tupelov-154 passenger jet used to train Islamists in weaponless hijacking?
Please, tell me how all the facts of Saddam’s terror ties have been disproved. You get extra credit if you can use actual facts in the place of leftist catch-phrases and DNC talking points.
All this talk of Kosovo and not one mention of the man who created the mess. Just a weak attempt to lump it in with all of Jorge’s other supposed failings.
Telling.
No attempt to lump it into Jorge's other failings whatsover. I've not forgotten that that foreign adventure started under Clinton. But, that he chose to entangle us further into that sad part of the world only told me that, at bottom, Bush is just another two-bit politician.
And, if we're going to try and be an empire, at least let's get something out of it. They might have been corrupt, but at least the Romans and French were smart enough to make their imperial adventures economically worthwhile. Because we're such good guys (and the American nation is), our leaders are letting us and our children pay for their imperial misadventures.
