I always thought that if both parents were natural born citizens, then the child was, too.

This is beyond ridiculous. McCain is a natural born U.S. citizen and so is Obama.
To: xDGx
Humbug. McCain was born at the naval air station in the Canal Zone (US territory) to American citizens. There is no story here. Period.
As to Obama, his situation was a lot more ambiguous but who knows.

One of my daughters was born in Germany where I was stationed in the early 90’s. Does this make her ineligible for the Presidency?

Yes. With closed primaries. Front load the “red states” and let us have a real race.

OK Eunice Moscoso, name all 50 of the states in 1936... it’s the same BS that was leveled against Goldwater in 1964 because he was born in the Arizona Territory... besides, everybody knows there are now 57 states according to the Obamanation.

I wrote to the author and asked that she do an article on Obama and his very questionable birth surroundings. I linked her to the big thread w/ all the details in it.
Everyone else should write her too :)

I need a strong drink.
To: Grunthor
If both parents are U.S citizens, the child is for the purposes of the 1790 Naturalization Act, as though born within the United States territorial limits - a natural born citizen. Case closed. With Obama its ambiguous because only the mother was a U.S citizen and she didn't reside the required five years after the age of 16 in the U.S before giving birth to her son. So if there's a genuine constitutional question, it revolves around Obama rather than McCain.

I say disqualify both of them. Im sure there are plenty of people in both parties who would love to have a do-over. BIG Bump to that!

No he was not.
And by the way, there was no such thing, ever, as a “naval air station” in the Canal Zone.
Further, quit reading Wikipedea (sp?). It is full of misinformation.

Expected counterattack to defuse examination of Obamas provenance. Except that the attack has yet to surface in the MSM press. Funny how the counter-attack does, but not the attack.
