Knife crime to replace terror as police priority
Times Online ^ | 5 July, 2008 | Adam Fresco

Knife crime has overtaken terrorism as the No 1 priority for the Metropolitan Police, one of Britain’s most senior officers said yesterday. Deputy Commissioner Sir Paul Stephenson announced the form-ation of a special knife-crime unit to address the recent spate of fatal stabbings in London as he admitted that moves to stop teenagers carrying weapons were not working. The unit, featuring specialist officers from across the capital, will target known gang members and their associates who may be carrying or supplying knives. It will also conduct random searches. Sir Paul’s announcement came after a 16-year-old boy became the eighteenth teenager to die a violent death in the capital this year. There were 26 youth murders in 2007. He was ambushed by masked teenage boys who attacked him with a baseball bat and a knife with a 30cm blade. A young girl with the gang watched his murder. In an attempt to stem the growing number of young deaths, senior police in the capital have been told to divert officers from other tasks to focus on tackling knife crime. Speaking at a Metropolitan Police Association co-ordination and policing committee meeting yesterday, Sir Paul said: “These measures reflect that tackling knife crime is the No 1 priority for the Met at this time.” Earlier this year, Sir Ian Blair, the Metropolitan Police Commissioner, had said that only terrorism posed a greater threat than youth violence to London.

The British continue their socialis obsession with the objects that are sometimes used to commit crime. They used to be a free people.

How sad.

They’re simply obsessed with the belief that it’s the weapon that causes the crime.

So if a local ROP member beheads his neighbor with a knife, it's a "knife crime" not a terrorist act.

Too many smart Brits got killed off in WWI and WWII and now only the stupid ones are left.

It's truly a sad end for the country that gave the world Elizabeth I, Shakespeare, and Churchill.

It is a symptom of the same moral rot that infects our own Republic. We have many people among us who are unwilling or unable to determine causality when it comes to human behavior, and the reason is that they will not or cannot distinguish good from evil.

One of these days, perhaps, dingdongs carrying the water for socialism and fascism, will realize that PEOPLE kill PEOPLE. Well, maybe not.

They'll have to use chainsaws once the anti-knife laws are enacted.

The press accounts of these knife murders are singularly uninformative. There were 26 youth murders in 2007, and we still don’t know who is doing it?

Are these gang initiations? Soccer riots? Muslim attacks on whites? Drunken brawls? Absolutely no indication in any of the stories I have read from the British press. All we hear about is the knives, although they also apparently use baseball bats and fists.

You know a society is sick when they obsess like this over the weapons and not over who are the perpetrators and who are the victims.

Well, it is of course impossible to be 100% certain without having actually witnessed the murders, however, the lack of any reporting of such a salient factor suggests (to me) that it is NOT multi-generation native population.

Pssst, hey Brits: concentrate your efforts on severe punishments for violent crimes rather than on outlawing objects used to commit those crimes and you’ll make a lot of headway. Oh yeah, and deport all Mohammedans not residing there legally.

The Brits blaming weapons for the crimes is like Rosie O'Donnell blaming spoons for her being fat.

“It will also conduct random searches.”

Unchecked gun control laws in this country would inevitably lead to the same result. The government would realize that recognizing citizen’s rights against unreasonable search and seizure (the Fourth Amendment) impeded the ‘priority’ of gun control and the Fourth Amendment would be the next to go. The ‘fairness doctrine’ will be the death knell of the First Amendment (Freedom of Speech). The Heller decision was certainly a refreshing victory for the Bill of Rights, but we have alot of work to do to prevent the Constitution from becoming the sole property of drug dealers, pornographers, baby killers and tyrants. Honest, hardworking Americans are worthy of its protections as well, and it’s time the politicians and rogue judges were put on notice that there are those of us who will not meekly surrender what our forefathers and so many valiant Americans shed their blood for.
