uring the service, as Monsoor's coffin was taken from the hearse to the gravesite, Navy SEALs lined up in two columns. As the coffin passed, video shows each SEAL slapping down the gold Trident from his uniform and deeply embedding it in Monsoor's wooden coffin.
The slaps were reportedly heard across the cemetery.
The symbolic display moved many, included Bush, who during his speech in April's Medal of Honor ceremony spoke about the incident.
"The procession went on nearly half an hour," Bush said. "And when it was all over, the simple wooden coffin had become a gold-plated memorial to a hero who will never be forgotten.

D**, that teared me up. Such honor stands in complete contrast to the vast majority of our politicians who would gladly push someone in front of them in order to survive. The sleaze-chicken metro-man of all time (Kerry) comes to mind.
Wow. Just wow. I felt a twist of emotion just reading that account. How powerful a tribute that must have been.
We still have men in this country. Thank God.

The real deal... American hero, Mike Monsoor, Navy Seal. God bless you.
when I’m in San Diego I go to my stepdaughter’s wonderful church. On Mememorial Day, the pastor talked about this young man. It’s fitting to remember him this weekend, on our nation’s birthday. You will never be forgotten, Mike.
My knees get weak and my monitor blurs, but I never pass a chance to honor them in my own small way.
Don’t forget Stephen King and his insulting comments.
Right. I forgot about that knucklehead comment.
We lost one of our best. You made a difference and will be missed.
Fair winds and following seas Mikey.

Thank you for this extraordinary and beautiful tribute to Petty Officer Michael Monsoor.
This is one of the best postings to ever appear here, IMHO,and I have already passed it on to everyone I know.
Murtha isn’t even fit to be on the same planet as any of our fighting troops. What a poor excuse for a human being.
May God eternally Bless Michael, his family, all his comrades who have gone before him and who are here, and all those who love and honor this brave man.
I forgot to say that this is the first time I have ever had tears dripping on my shirt while watching a video.
Then you haven't seen the tributes for Micheal Murphy or the other two MoH recipients. Any one of them could have been the little boy growing up in your neighborhood.
They all got to me.

No I haven’t. I feel like every casualty has been a son or daughter of mine—as indeed they have been of all of us. Each one leaves a terrible hole in their families and in our society, and we must never, ever forget their sacrifice!
