Abortion has been the #1 issue in the country for a long time now. I asked a friend of mine recently why he consistently votes Democrat despite the fact that he's a pro-2A, anti-tax, pro-WOT type of guy. After some mumbling he blurted out "abortion!" ....as if he were almost embarrassed about it.

Alas, he's far from alone in being brainwashed that securing "a woman's right to choose" takes precedence over every other issue. ...despite the fact that, in contrast to the other issues I mentioned above, "a woman's right to choose" doesn't directly affect him personally. Guess he gave it some thought, because he just recently informed me he'll be voting Republican for the first time in his life in Nov.

I'm convinced that the only issue keeping countless voters on the Democrat plantation is the abortion issue.

And the 2nd amendment is the largest reason that former RATS started voting Republican.

More than 50% of UAW autoworkers now vote Republican and that is their major reason.

Says a lot about the dim party. The most important issue to them is keeping it legal to execute babies.

“despite the fact that, in contrast to the other issues I mentioned above, “a woman’s right to choose” doesn’t directly affect him personally.”

It does affect him personally though. Well maybe not directly if he’s not at a point in his life where his significant other will be faced with the choice of aborting his child, but for men in general, abortion definitely affects them personally. When their children are killed without them being able to do anything to protect them, which is arguably a father’s greatest instinct, they are affected. On the other side, when they get someone pregnant and she insists she’s having the baby and he has to pay child support, he’s affected (though not nearly as devestated; I haven’t heard of men killing themselves because they had to pay child support, but maybe I’m just not looking hard enough).

I have encountered plenty of pro-choice men, and mostly younger men. Some think it will make them look enlightened and get them dates. Some don’t want to take responsibility when they have sex and get someone pregnant. Some genuinely buy into the pro-choice line. And then there are those who mistakingly believe that they have no say because they can’t get pregnant. “It’s a women’s issue.” No. It’s a human rights issue that has deep societal ramnifications and affects everyone, regardless of gender.
