Many thanks for finding the 2007 "E Pluribus Venom" exhibition upon which the book is based. What a sick, twisted soul.

Fairey has also hosted at least one fund-raising event for Obama:

Obama Fundraiser Photo Gallery With Z-Trip & Shepard Fairey

Local tastemakers joined together last Friday, August 1st for a Barack Obama fundraiser at The Echoplex.

Shepard Fairey aka DJ Diabetic aka the man behind the OBEY's famous "Andre The Giant Has A Posse" guerilla ad campaign, told the crowd before his set that his performance would be a conscious audio/visual set with more focus on the visuals. Z-trip closed out the night and had the same disclaimer. With both sets more focused on the message rather than just delivering booty-shaking beats, which resulted in more standing around and reflecting and less grinding on the dancefloor. Both DJ's infused political graphics and images and snippets of Obama speeches into the music.

DJ Troublemaker (Backyard Bangers) opened the night up and DJ-ed for Lady Tigra's surprise performance. His set included a crazy mix of Shai's "If I ever (Fall In Love)" and Santogold's "L.E.S. Artistes", a mix that made the event completely worth every cent.

Cover for the night was $20, and in a city that bitches about $5 valet, we heard no "WTF's" at the door. Everyone knew all the proceeds would go to the OBAMA campaign and were willing to shell out the $20 for change.
