Vanity Fair media columnist says popular host will be 'oddity,' claims 'rise of conservatism' 'coming to an end.'
Its time to short-sell Clear Channel Communications stock if you follow the analysis by CNBC contributor and Vanity Fair contributing editor Michael Wolff. He criticized a record deal that locks Rush Limbaugh in with the radio company through the next eight years.
Wolff mocked Clear Channels (NYSE:CCU) decision to sign Limbaugh to the long-term agreement on CNBCs June 2 Street Signs.

Envy is sad to watch.
Dear Michael,
I’d be prepared to work for 1/10th as much. Any openings?

LOLOL!!
Who’s this nobody called “Wolf-if”?
Wolff isnt exactly batting 1.000 when comes to this sort of analysis. Jack Shafer, a media critic for Slate.com called Wolff a sloppy, lazy media columnist in a May 5, 2005 column. When you have been called a sloppy and lazy anything by Slate it has got to be a pretty bad collection of work from this guy that no one has ever heard of.Gifted with a hyperactive and malicious mind, Wolff's forte is not reporting and analysis. Its the oh-arent-I-naughty clever slur, a talent worth admiring if not applauding, especially when youre the target. Which I, and the Web site I call home, am, Shafer wrote.
Why, he must mean the 400 MILLION DOLLAR CONTRACT Rush got. :-)
I heard Rush talking about this schmuck.
“Media critics” will simply never get it.
They dwell on the coasts, and are simply elitists that cannot understand how anyone could still be conservative. They deride “flyover country”, and yet will never be able to understand the values that drive us between the coasts.
Ultimately, they’re liberals who simply cannot fathom the success or popularity of a man with whom they so vehemently disagree. They don’t even consider that THEY are the ones out of touch with the mainstream.
Regardless of the results of this election, Rush will continue unabated. They said he’d fall apart after Reagan. They said he’d fall apart when Dukakis lost because he’d have nothing to talk about. They said he’d fade when Clinton won, because he’d been rebuked. They said he’d fade away when Bush won because he couldn’t beat on Clinton anymore. And now they think Obama will end him, and the nomination of McCain was a rebuke of Limbaugh’s brand of Reagan conservatism.
They’ve been wrong since 1984, and they’ll be wrong again. They will clearly never learn.
H
Smart money is on the conservative bastions.
Jealousy is a pitiful thing.
Stupid deal. If Rush continues to maintain market share, he’ll simply be able to demand more money in a few years anyway. Anything more than a three year deal for a radio personality is a joke.
The author’s name is Jeff Poor ? That fits.
Let’s just call this wishful thinking. Conservatism is only not dead, with the election of a quasi-Marxist like Obama Limbaugh’s audience will probably grow. Rush might have to be less conservative??!!! What, do they think he’ll start endorsing government-subsidized abortions or something? Hell will freeze over before anything like that happens.
If the MSM wasn’t skewed so heavily to the Left, Rush would have no audience.
Rush is the Left’s bastard love child. If they want to end his reign, then they’ll have to start being a little more fiar and balanced.
Some people just don’t get the whole free enterprise thing.
Just curious. What's your experience and how does it exceed Rush's?
