The context is following 9/11 when Obama concluded that Muslims in the US were being over investigated and so were put into an “ugly” situation of over-riding fears. Obama criticized the FBI questioners and other government agencies in their work following 9/11. In that context, Obama said that he would stand alongside them to defend them. Obama stated that he did not want them undergoing injustices like unto “Japanese internments during World War II.”

But he'd have no problem with the people who want re-education camps with signs on the gates saying, "Whites Only"...
