Colorado Springs is a funny place for an atheist such as myself. A lot of employers require candidates and new hires to sign a “Christian Statement”, which varies from office to office. The first time I learned of this, my jaw dropped.
Oddly enough, as an atheist signing the statement for me was akin to signing a UFO statement. Null and Void.
I believe this legislature, and this article are only half of the story.
Now, that I told FreeRepublic that I’m an atheist: Let the rocks fly !
Don’t worry, the vast majority of FReepers are decent people, although a small minority will attack you for it.
I presume you mean employers like Focus on the family, the Navigators etc. Employers that have an overtly Christian mission statement. But perhaps in Colorado Springs some employers believe that hiring Christians gives them a competitive advantage - so what - it is their business not yours or the even the peoples. Apparently private property rights go out the door as soon as the word business or employer are used - this is an infringement on property and just part of the rapid loss of liberty that is a cancer on this once free republic.
I suggest that if you are having trouble getting a job as an atheist you have two options: first and best option repent of your rebellion against God, but if you must persist in your abominable philosophy, start your own business -maybe advertise you only hire blasphemers and compete in a market place where customers are still free to do business with whom they choose. You apparently like the option of tyranny the best - where you use the power of the government to advance your godless religion to the determent, even persecution of other religions - all the while losing your own GOD GIVEN RIGHTS.
