Senator John McCain has been accused of flip-flopping on immigration. Supposedly he tacked right during the primaries and now is tacking left. Actually, McCain has been all too consistent.
As he has twice in recent weeks told Hispanic leaders, he remains committed to a comprehensive immigration reform that increases enforcement but also creates a temporary guest worker program and lets many illegal immigrants become legal residents. His one concession has been a matter of timing. During the primaries he said that the public would need to see enforcement work before it would tolerate the other elements of reform. He did not back off from supporting an amnesty during the primaries (although like other amnesty proponents he hates the word). And he has not backed off from his pledge to pursue enforcement first.

this makes sense
McCain never flipped on this. However, he was purposefully misleading in stating that what Americans wanted by defeating S2611 was only border security first and neglected to acknowledge the amnesty issue. The article is correct, only the timing was changed.
Even if McCain EFFECTIVELY secures the border (and I don’t mean borders deemed secure by PRO illegal alien border Govenors), even then, he still promotes AMNESTY.
NO AMNESTY OF ANY KIND FOR ANY ILLEGAL ALIENS, PERIOD.
The Ag industry needs workers...thats clear enough but perhaps we should require the country of origin to put up a bond for each “guest worker”..maybe $100,000 each. If the “guest worker” even gets a jaywalking ticket the bond is revoked.
Perhaps monitoring bracelets and limited travel?
But first..SECURE THE BORDERS AND DEPORT THE ILLEGALS....... then we can talk about it for a few decades!
A small town in Eastern MA...Ayer, holding Fourth of July celebrations is not calling them ‘the United States of America’s Fourth’. No. It’s ‘America’s Fourth’(Greater America, doubtless including points south.) Early AM TV had on documentary on Santa Ana having lost the Southwest and giving the Mexican point of view. They admitted he had a reputation for cruelty along the lines of Saddam Hussein, though. Presumably if you were a Liberal, you’d draw your own conclusions about that. (He was merely misunderstood.) Are we all happy? Multicultural paradise here we come!

I understand the reasoning of the editorial, but let's be clear: this (enforcement first) is only implied, not promised, or formally stated. This is where we find ourselves in this most distasteful of political campaigns -- hanging on to something resembling an "emanation of a penumbra" in an attempt to find a reason to support a man who has so deliberately defied the will of the majority on this issue.

“lets many illegal immigrants become legal residents.”
Other than this part, sounds like a plan.

Look for an October Surprise---McC will hold a signing ceremony to give back the SW to Mexico.
BACKSTORY John McCain has been going across the country having PRIVATE meetings with Hispanics (read "SECRET" meetings).
John McCains favorite words at these meetings is Comprehensive Immigration Reform........saying if he is gonna win the Presidential election he will need the support of the Latino community.
He likes to say: My state has been enriched by the Hispanic culture in Arizona. I bet some did not know that Spanish was spoken in Arizona before English with loud cheers from the audience.
(AZTLAN here we come) Watch for an October Surprise---Juan has A SIGNING CEREMONY TO GIVE THE SW BACK TO MEXICO.
Juan says: I want to have some straight talk about our relationship with Mexico, our closest neighbor and dearest friend and fighting drug cartels. I was proud to work for Comprehensive Immigration Reform and if I am elected President I assure you that in 2009 I will ask Congress to pass Comprehensive Immigration Reform. (Picture latinos going wild)
It is a Federal Responsibility Juan says. We also need a temporary guest worker program. We have no Federal Policy, we cannot allow this to happen, he said, He repeated I assure you that I will work for Comprehensive Immigration Reform."

Tipster Edgar M. sends an English translation of an article from Diario Libre touting McCains promise to renew his shamnesty push for the undocumented:
New York - The Republican candidate for the White House, Senator John McCain, promised that if he wins, a day after he is sworn in as a new president of the United States, he will pressure Congress to enact a law immediately in favor of immigration reform.
The candidate that appears today eight points behind his Democrat rival Barack Obama, did the pronouncement in an interview that he granted to the Hispanic newspaper La Opinion in Los Angeles
McCain said that it is completely false that [he] has abandoned his original commitment to fight for reform for the more than 12 million undocumented immigrants that reside in the United States and that includes the failed proposal of President Bush, to secure the borders first.
This reform will be a priority in my administration because it is a convincing federal responsibility, added the contender of the Republican Party. We will undertake immigration reform and on the day after my inauguration, I will ask Congress to reconsider it, although I believe that first we have to secure our borders, set in motion a plan for guest workers that works and to focus on the issue of the undocumented in a humane and compassionate way.
We bought this pig in a poke back in 1986 and 22 years later we're still waiting for the secure borders.
No Thanks!
