Clark himself had been damaged.
Two months later it was announced that he would be replaced as Supreme Allied Commander earlier than expected. When Clark announced that he would be standing as a candidate for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination, Shelton said, in a public forum, that Clark being short-toured "had to do with integrity and character issues", adding: "Wes won't get my vote."

Exactly...General Shelton declined to provide details in support of his comments; however, he knew that Clark's mouth would eventually take care of that.
