Wesley Clark Continues His Blasts At McCain
Right Wing News ^ | July 01, 2008 | John Hawkins

Posted on 07/01/2008 7:56:52 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

To start off, as many of you have already read, Obama threw Wes Clark, if not under the bus, at least into the bumper

"As he's said many times before, Senator Obama honors and respects Senator McCain's service, and of course he rejects yesterday's statement by General Clark," said Obama campaign spokeman Bill Burton.

Is this what the Hope 'n Change xPress will bring us throughout the campaign? Some Obama supporter comes out, says something nasty, gets the talking point out there for all to see, then Obama, who really needs to wash the blood and gore off his bus at this time, runs them over, then reaps the benefit of the nastiness while attempting to keep his hands clean? Democrats do not seem to want to blame Obama at all, yet blamed Bush for the actions of a few low level military members at a prison in Iraq.

But Clark won't back down (Politico)

There are many important issues in this Presidential election, clearly one of the most important issues is national security and keeping the American people safe. In my opinion, protecting the American people is the most important duty of our next President. I have made comments in the past about John McCain's service and I want to reiterate them in order be crystal clear. As I have said before I honor John McCain's service as a prisoner of war and a Vietnam Veteran. He was a hero to me and to hundreds of thousands and millions of others in Armed Forces as a prisoner of war. I would never dishonor the service of someone who chose to wear the uniform for our nation.

John McCain is running his campaign on his experience and how his experience would benefit him and our nation as President. That experience shows courage and commitment to our country - but it doesn't include executive experience wrestling with national policy or go-to-war decisions. And in this area his judgment has been flawed - he not only supported going into a war we didn't have to fight in Iraq, but has time and again undervalued other, non-military elements of national power that must be used effectively to protect America But as an American and former military officer I will not back down if I believe someone doesn't have sound judgment when it comes to our nation's most critical issues.

Now, let's look seriously at the issue. Does being in the military and being a POW give McCain "executive ability?" No. Not by itself. He sure doesn't have the experience like some others who almost started World War III with the Russians. But, you add that to his long service in government, and it certainly gives him a hell of a lot more then Senator Neophyte, who, according to Wes Clark, is not ready, because he has no experience wrestling with national policy or go-to-war decisions. Funny how that works, eh?

Now, as pointed out in the comments, the Democrats thought John Kerry's 4 months in Vietnam was enough to give him executive ability. But McCain's doesn't. What I want in a president is someone who will lead, who has vision, knows how to work with others, and looks mostly toward what is best for the people, not what they think is best for the people.

Update: Bob Dole blasts Sir Wesley

Dole, the 1996 Republican presidential nominee, said that Clark's statement was "beyond comprehension" and his "absurd remarks signal further erosion in our nation's political discourse. He should have stayed in bed Sunday morning.

"It's unfortunate that a former general who ran for the presidency on his own war record thinks it appropriate to attack a distinguished veteran and former prisoner-of-war in this way. Sen. McCain's entire life has been devoted to public service. His achievement and experience constitute unparalleled qualification for America's highest office."

Setting aside the question of Obama’s “response” to Gen. Weasley’s slander (—BHO certainly did NOT throw him under the bus, he merely suggested that Clark could have made the same point differently, but did not condemn Clark’s message—) . . .

the really funny thing is that Weasley would have us believe that HE is the perfect presidential material due to his military experience... THAT is one heckofabig joke...

Way to go Wes... I hope he keeps it up, and turns up the heat even further...

If McCain can't see it as a layup and score, by BLASTING Clark and H to smithereens on this, he deserves all the abuse he gets... Saying it's "unneccessary" is downright PATHETIC...

Didn't he learn from Bush, when Scumbag Kennedy said Bush told LIE AFTER LIE AFTER LIE, and concocted the war from Crawford for political purposes, and Bush didn't utter a word in response, that it emboldens the enemy, and they become more brazen? COme on McCain, grow some balls already... Fight back... HARD. or get the F out of the way for someone else...

THere's way too much at stake.

I suspect that during the period when McCain was going through hell as a POW, Obama was buying and using cocaine (a felony) and smoking dope. I am so damn sick of this Freak and his a$$hat pals.

>>>Obama’s goal is to marginalize that service and experience in order to gain blue collar voters

And thus BHO makes the same mistake again and again and again: Underestimating (or is that “misunderestimating”) the intelligence of those pesky little blue collar voters, who ain’t gonna be too easily fooled by the Dem’s Chief Chosen Fool...

Clark himself had been damaged...Shelton said, in a public forum, that Clark being short-toured "had to do with integrity and character issues", adding: "Wes won't get my vote."

Exactly...General Shelton declined to provide details in support of his comments; however, he knew that Clark's mouth would eventually take care of that.

I hope General Shelton is being persuaded by these latest events that it may be a good idea to expand on some of those details.

Never forget that Clark is the fellow who discovered how to become a General without having any real merit, ability or capacity to lead.

I think of him as being one of those bosses who believes that the only reason a subordinate did a great job is because he, the boss, gave that person the opportunity to do so. Otherwise, the subordinate would be off chopping wood and drawing water ~ at best.

Good point...Perhaps we will now hear from others, in addition to Shelton and Franks, who had the pleasure of serving with the grandstanding Clark.

Was it not Clark who about started WWIII when he blocked the Russians from access to the air port in Bosnia?
Clark said riding in a plane does not make you qualified to be president. I consider jet fighter pilots to be very special people. I think they would be in the top 10% physically and mentally.

Very well stated Jeff, keep it up - you hit it again!

"Clark is a two-faced political hack and the media knows it. He endorsed Kerry for President on the very things he says now disqualifies McCain for the Presidency...only Kerry was himself a facade. Listen to Clark's DNC National Convention speech in 2004.

The guy is a bought and paid for political lackey...and there is no way that he spoke on his own. It was all coordinated to try and equate Obama's experience to McCain and to try and allow Obama to take the high road while doing so.

As I said, I will not besmirch the term "patriot" with the likes of Barack Hussein Obama who is an anti-American marxist."

That’s what I’m thinking, just thought I was missing something. Obama’s basically pointing a gun at his head.

Good list! But I guess we're both overlooking the impact of HOPE and CHANGE. Don't need any experience for those!

When Clark appeared on TV and talked about bombing (Christian) Serbs to protect (Islamic) Kosovars it looked like he was having an orgasm. Anybody know if it’s true that his own men hated him and thought he was an A-hole?

If ever we've had a General that was a TOTAL flop, it was Wesley Clark. For heavens sake, the man did honestly TRY to start WW III, by firing on the Russians. Only a more senior NATO officer was able to stop him.

Wes also has the distinction of being dismissed by Bill Clinton (Bill Clinton, folks!) for, allegedly, representing the interests of NATO more than he represented the interests of the U.S. Now, I would call that quite an indictment!

Wes wants us to consider the “judgment” of the Presidential candidates. I would, cheerfully, contrast the judgment of McCain (such as it is) with that of the Dem candidate—any day, any time. Obama’s track record, in the “judgment” department, is not exactly sterling. For the evidence, one need only check the undercarriage of his bus.

Even if he's shilling for “Billary”, how in the heck can he say HER experience, particularly as C in C, compares favorably with McCain's? It is a “tissue paper argument” for either Dem candidate!

I think there may be a lot of folks who remember Wes shilling for Kerry last time around—and lauding the same characteristics he now condemns in McCain. There were a lot of folks who were outraged by his remarks about McCain's military service, even those who didn't serve in the military.

I dislike John McCain intensely, but Clark's comments even pis$ed me off!

Only the idiots take Wesley Clarke seriously. Wesley Clarke is the guy in the cafeteria who yells "food fight". And yes, Democrats know this. Therefore, as they waiting around in their cozy janitorial union jobs, their food service union jobs, they tippance Clarke to start a food fight. And then of course, after the melee, they defend Clarke as an "innocent" prankster.

Ho hum...
