Much earlier on, I said that he’d choose Romney because Romney could cut a check. But now that McCain has elected to use public financing, I don’t think this article makes any sense.

Seems to me that Romney donors would be more likely to donate to a McCain candidacy if Romney were on the ticket. At least that's what the thinking is.
