Attorney General Ashcroft was the co-chair of the National Advisory Committee on Violence Against Women when I was a member.

We’re stuck with the Committee as well as the Act. At least the President had good people doing this job. Two of our members were women who had joined in the lawsuit to overturn the un-Constitutional part of that Act. Some of us were known pro-lifers. You can imagine the uproar.
