When I practiced law in Connecticut starting in the 1970s, there was a lawyer in Bridgeport named Raphael Korff (sp.?). As I understand it, he was about the last practicing attorney in Connecticut who did not attend law school, college or even graduate high school (IIRC). He was the toughest opponent that any lawyer could draw in any civil case. He had apprenticed for five years and then passed the bar examination. The late US Senator Tom Dodd (father of Christopher and a far better man) graduated Yale Law School and never passed a bar examination. He was allowed to merely register as a South Dakota lawyer because he had graduated law school. He had agreed to represent Connecticut Young Americans for Freedom in the year he died in actions against leftist University of Connecticut administrators who were allowing SDS types to interfere with classes. He had been admitted to practice in Connecticut on motion to the courts after serving as the head of the Civil Rights Division of the US Justice Department and as the effective chief trial counsel at the Nuremburg trials (when as was usual SCOTUS Justice Robert Jackson was back in the US). I suspect that there are people with medical knowledge sufficient to any problems I may have who may not have gummint approval. Whether I would resort to them for treatment might well depend on the malady. There is no parallel or moral or professional equivalency for the "education""profession."

I would prefer to learn from and interact with any living mind with or without gummint documents to learning from any trained lackey of Horace Mann and John Dewey or their ilk.

What relevance DOES taking a driving test have??? Every licensed driver arrested for anything from speeding to vehicular homicide under the influence of booze or drugs has taken and passed at least one. So what?

I have never taken a CLEP or MSAT so I don't know whether they are relevant. I suspect that they are less relevant than is demonstrated competence in and mastery of subject matter. I did very well on SATs (1452) and LSATs (680??? IIRC) and so I am biased on those tests. I also exceeded 700 on Math and History achievement tests. Bear in mind that these scores were achieved back before the tests were culturally dumbed down and scores artificially inflated so as to be less embarrassing to the students public and private.

Did someone die and leave the State (the political hacks who are appointed by the elected political hacks) in charge of determining what constitutes competency??? Do you think that "certification" has worked as you say or is public school performance sinking like a millstone at all too many public schools? Be honest now. I know you can if you set your mind to it.

The guilds were medieval Catholic institutions. Puhleeze, do not confuse such an admirable and competent system as the guilds with public schools as we know them generally. Sullen, slack-jawed youth, utterly hostile to learning, are not much of a masterpiece upon which to justify a career. Master stone masons making their bones by building magnificent Gothic cathedrals or master woodcarvers ought not suffer being compared to the denizens of NEA.

So...What would you call those teachers who are not Marxist, who are unaware of the socialist/Marxist philosophy dominating the schools, and unwittingly promote the system?

Marxism is fundamentally freedom's **most** serious threat. Schools are the Marxists’ **most** important weapon. ( No, I do not have a more original or less boring way to state this)

By the way, a liberal is never satisfied until there is complete socialism. And...a socialist will not be content until their is communism. Communism is the final destination of all liberals and socialists.
