Why would Charles Bronson quote Clint Eastwood? Don’t you have your own lines?

I have no idea why he has not issued an Executive Order and directed the lifting of the ban on drilling. There are two separate bans - one involving an Executive Order and the other involving legislation. Getting rid of one won't help get rid of the other so it would be pointless for the President to unilaterally remove the Executive Order until Congress lifts its ban as well.

Seems like he did already and Congress said no. Place the blame where it goes.

A EO would be futile at this point with President Bush having only a few months left in office. For the most part, EOs expire at the end of a President's term unless renewed by the next President. An EO issued now would most likely not be renewed by either of our Presidential prospects. This would not be enough time for an oil company to really take any action, especially with the prospect that action would be overturned and cost them a lot to pull out. It would do little other than waste paper.

Executive orders cannot countermand public law... It takes Congressional action. IOW, Bush cannot do what you suggest.

He is waiting for the public pressure to mount beyond fever pitch when the Republicans can gather enough Rat votes to push all the energy bills through.
Remember....Congress never acts it alway reacts. We are awaiting the pressure to induce reaction.

What are you doing to help out? Are you cutting demand by driving less?
It’s a two-way street, so to speak.

Dangit! What the heck was the name of that Bronson movie where he was hired to helicopter a prisoner out of Mexico? There was a neat scene in it where, at the end, the bad guy gets it from a plane's propeller.

48% OF AMERICANS THINK REPUBLICANS STILL CONTROL CONGRESS!!!!! ... according to a recent poll.
Thanks, MSM.
Well, to be honest, it's not totally the MSM's fault, because people need to educate themselves about government online or elsewhere. That way they'd know what's going on and why.
Just easier to (wrongly) assume Republicans are in charge, I suppose...

    > What Exactly is President Bush Doing About the Rise in Oil?
I suspect he is maintaining a perfectly hedged position, selling US dollars and buying Euro futures, and short-selling sweet crude in US dollars on the spot market and buying sweet crude futures in Euros to cover his exposures...
...Heck, I dunno — I just made that up. What kind of question is that? Of course Bush, being an oil-man, will be making just as much money out of the rise in Oil as he possibly can. He can’t help doing that: that’s how he keeps his millions of dollars. He’s a businessman and not as dumb as most people make out.

Until the Democrats allow drilling, he can’t do anything.
What are the Democrats doing?

Yep. We need to spread the word...The DEMOCRATIC Congress.

Wah. Wah. Wah. It's called a market. What, exactly, is the president going to do? Increase supply? Dims won't let him. Decraese wolrd demand, like in China? How? Suck it up. Oil has been cheap for 75 years, it's just now getting to where it SHOULD be.

[ Does Bush really want us to drop into a deep recession? I have no idea why he has not issued an Executive Order and directed the lifting of the ban on drilling. ]
Because he is a globalist.. you know, like Obama, Hillary and John McLaim..
The globalists are picking the bones on the American carcase..
You know, tax the oil companys which tax will be passed on to the retail purchaser as always..
The price of crude oil(refined and unrefined) has become A TAX...
No not a just a tax... BUT a VALUE ADDED TAX(VAT)...

He has not issued the executive order because he is just using the issue as political ammunition instead of actually trying to solve it. Anyone could see that the price was going to go way up as early as 2002. There have been threads about it here even longer than that. He has had plenty of time to act on this and has not done so.
