In the Hindu epic, The Mahabharata, when the primary protagonist is being put through the horrors of the netherworld, a dog attaches himself to him, accompanies him the whole of the way. When he reaches heaven, he is told that the dog cant come, but he can.
He replies, “If the dog cant come, then neither shall I”. Turns out it was his final test, and he, and his pet enter the gates.
Hindus are a great example of how you can retain your core beliefs and culture yet still meld and live peacefully within a different culture.
If we don’t defend the melting pot concept our America will be gone very soon.
