I wouldn’t mind seeing such “super-citizens” accorded some form of additional social status privilege in society.

at least a lifetime deduction on fed income tax for those who served in a combat zone (though obviously eliminated would be better)

Something like that, yeah. We’d probably never get to the point Starship Troopers was, since there would be some strong opposition to some of the other social structures that made the Citizen/resident dichotomy possible. I haven’t seen ID4 in a while, so I forget the specific reference there (though I can guess).

Actually, the whole thing stems from my applying for a Desert Storm plate here in TX, and thinking about how vets shouldn’t have to pay the full registration price for a legitimate vet plate as a small way that the state could be making good on the whole “we owe our soldiers a debt etc etc...” thing. It just kinda snowballed.
