I would love to retire to the Ridgeway/Ouray area. Do you thing the liberals in the SW part of the state are the city types moving out, or more due to illegal immigration?
I am very sad (like you) that our once blood red state is now a “purple” swing state. I guess thats what happens when you live in the best place in the country - the libs find out and move in
Fortunately the SE part of the metro area where I live is firmly conservative. District 6 or Tancredo’s district! YAY!

I grew up in SE Denver.
We vacationed every summer in Durango where our dad grew up.
Such happy memories.

I'm surprised. Any diabetic knows to avoid “white/yellow” foods as they are very high in carbs and bad for you.

“All meals must include ‘at least three of the following colors: red, green, yellow, blue/purple and white.’”
Sounds like a display of chemical and incendiary munitions dispensers.

Yeah, true-—but I think the DNC is thinking more like raw white sashimi, garnished w/ julienned white jicama served on a bed of white rice flavored with yellow saffron.

Well, at least you're in Tancredo's district. I wish he had done better in the primaries.
Ridgeway and Ouray are still fairly normal (as far as I could tell when last there) - not too much spillage from Montrose to the north, but that area was really growing, so even if the libs haven't infected it too much, I'm sure the price of property there has gone through the roof like it did down around Durango.
The libs I ran into in the SW part of the state were the Kalifonia types who left the big cities to escape all the problems, then they brought the problems with them, or set about changing the way things were done. I'm sure some of the change is due to illegal immigration, but that area was always a strong mix of latino, Indian, and anglo, so it's hard to say how much the illegals have changed the mix.
I think it would be great to live in the Ouray area (I just dug out some of my old C.W. McCall music the other day because I was thinking of Colorado - the guy who was the persona of C.W. McCall used to be the mayor of Ouray), it is truly a spectacularly beautiful part of the state.

The only reason I would pick Ridgeway over Ouray is you can get in and out of Ridgeway 12 months out of the year. I would like to be snowbound for a little bit, but a couple of mos at a time would drive me nuts. OTher than that, Ouray and Yankee Boy Basin are among my favorite spots on this earth!
