Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick Signs $1 Billion Embryonic Stem Cell Research Bill (take action)

Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick signed a $1 billion embryonic stem cell research bill on Monday. The measure is meant to provide the controversial research with more taxpayer money after President Bush refused to force taxpayers to fund the destruction of human life. Patrick pushed the plan through the state legislature to force the state's taxpayers to fund embryonic stem cell research to the tune of $1 billion over 10 years.

He said he wanted the northeastern state to keep up with others like California, Illinois, and neighboring Connecticut, which have publicly funded the grisly research.   Under his plan, the state would create a bank of embryonic stem cell lines for public and private research, upgrade the facilities at colleges around the state and provide grants for their research. "There is no place in the world with as great a concentration of life sciences talent, resources and vision as Massachusetts," he said at the signing ceremony.

Despite federal and state funding and years of research across the country and around the globe, embryonic stem cell research, unlike the use of adult stem cells, has never helped a single patient.  Scientists have never -- and some say may never -- overcome hurdles such as the rejection of embryonic stem cells by the immune system and the problem of embryonic stem cells causing cancerous tumors when injected. That doesn't account for the ethical and moral concerns pro-life advocates have with the research because it requires the destruction of days-old unborn children to obtain the embryonic stem cells for research.

"The problem with embryonic stem-cell research is that it is destructive to human life," Marie Sturgis, the director of Massachusetts Citizens for Life, told AP previously. "Taxpayers should not be given a mandate to fund this unethical form of research."

Nothing personal, but wrecking the MA economy might be the best thing he could do for conservatives.

Deval is showing his atheistic bent while at the same time finishing off the economy of Massachusetts.

Deval (Devil) and Massachusetts deserve each other!

“$1 billion over 10 years”

When you hear that, you know it’s a fraud. He’ll authorize $5 million for next year, then he’ll be up for reelection, lose, and his successor will kill it.

A billion dollars for some absurd pipe dream? How about a billion toward something “realistic” like alternative fuels? Or do democrats just not care about mother earth?

If you want an inkling of how Obama will govern, look at this guy, Governor Deval Patrick. The are good friends, using each other’s thoughts. Very very scary! The young people in our nation are being led astray by a modern day Pied Piper.
