‘It’s Over, Lady!’
NYT ^ | June 29, 2008 | MAUREEN DOWD

Posted on 06/29/2008 7:29:11 AM PDT by vietvet67

Unity was spared the banality of unanimity.

Carmella Lewis, with her Hillary T-shirt and Hillary placard, came all the way from Denver to make sure there would be plenty of ambiguity, duality and ferocity in Unity.

Just as Hillary was testing out the unfamiliar familiarity “Barack and me” Friday and talking about “his grace and his grit,” Carmella began loudly booing and waving her sign.

“We want Hillary!” screamed the 57-year-old retired ad saleswoman and Clinton delegate.

“It’s over, lady!” yelled some Obama supporters a few yards away.

Standing between the Sharks and the Jets, David Axelrod took pity on an older friend of Carmella’s who was suffering from aridity in the Unity humidity. The chief Obama strategist fetched a glass of water and brought it to the woman, who was wearing five Hillary buttons.

This amenity did not stop the disunity. Carmella and her friends continued to cry, “Nobama!” “We love you, Hillary!” and “We need Hillary!” as Barack Obama sat onstage on a stool behind his former rival, his finger studiously at his lips.

Carmella was not impressed with all the kissing, laughing and whispering that Hill and Bam were diligently doing for the cameras, so that the moment could produce, as Obama press aide Robert Gibbs put it on “Larry King Live,” “a great picture.”

When it was Obama’s turn to speak, Carmella announced loudly, “I wish I had ear plugs.” Then, as Obama tried to ingratiate himself with the Hillary partisans in the crowd by saying that because of the New York senator, his daughters “can take for granted that women can do anything that the boys can do and do it better and do it in heels,” Carmella put her fingers in her ears.

I hate to remind the Obama supporter that it isn’t over until the convention. There is still plenty of time for Hillary to stab Obama in the back and grab the nomination.

We still have the birth certificate issue, the Michelle tape, and a few other things. BTW - Bill Clinton sure has be quiet lately. I wonder what he is up to.

I’m thinking of buying a bigger TV for the convention.
I wonder if it will be telecast in 7.1 Surround Sound.
Maybe even a new Laz-E-Boy recliner!

Oh this is good stuff. But I think we might all be hiding under our beds when McCain wins this fall.

No matter how hard the birth cerificate issue is flogged, no matter the eviedence, it’s not going beyond the blogs.

The Michelle tape was a hoax from day one to suck in Republicans and make them look bad.

Just like the spray painted vehicles reported this morning.

No class among Obama supporters.

None.

But is anyone surprised?

Bill Clinton sure has been quiet lately. I wonder what he is up to.

He's reportedly been saying that Obama-lama-ding-dong can "kiss his ass" (exact quote) for -his- support.

Emperor Billigula is not a happy camper it seems.

Looks good on him!

You are CORRECT on all points!
It’s all designed to make Obama look unfairly persecuted, and no matter what tiny minority still bandies about the
“Whitey” tape, etc. , Obama & Co. have and will refer to it as “another example” of the meanspirited unfairness of his enemies. THIS kind of thing is what allows them to pull off the occasional bad faith ploy like what he did just a few days ago, when he started with “You know how THEY are gonna do it.....he’s got a funny name......and he’s black!”, possibly the most dishonest strategy yet tried, but one we’ve come to expect. The amazing thing is, that this kind of thing was formerly done by surrogates (remember Shaheen of Maryland?), who got in trouble because of it——now it’s done by OBAMA HIMSELF!

Do you really believe that Obambi supporters called this person a lady? Probably closer to a female dog in heat or some such.

Unity was spared the banality of unanimity.

That's because Dowd has the monopoly on banality. She squandered it on the Obaminority in her stupidity.

How can anyone read her excrement and find it clever?

IMHO, Hillary is biding her time. She’s got something planned.

She disappeared for two weeks after suspending her campaign. And I doubt she spent that time lolling on a beach somewhere.

“They did not, however, commiserate about Bill Clinton, who is in a self-pitying meltdown about not being Elvis anymore...”

MoDo has a good insight. Credit where credit is due.

I bet Bill shafts Obambi with a “they play’d the race card on me too” in the fall.

Sometimes, when “women of a certain age”, (including myself in that category) don’t get what they’ve wanted, hoped for, dreamed about, in Carmella’s case a woman in the WH, we can go a little bit nuts.

I’m looking forward to the Dem convention, when all the Carmella’s congregate and stage a massive meltdown.
