Bad decisions are made all the time. No sympathy for the family of a decapitated son at a Church outing eh? What great class and human spirit you must possess.

If your gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough
When you get knocked down you gotta get back up,
I ain’t the sharpest knife in the drawer but I know enough, to know,
If your gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough...

do you want to know that people thought of you with warmth and with affection, or that they laughed at your demise? It depends if it involves me telling someone to hold muh beer and 'watch this'.

I imagine when you were 17 you never did anything stupid that could have resulted in a tragedy for your family or others. Too bad the rest of the world isn't as perfect as you /sarc

I feel badly for the kid’s family, but it looks like another Darwin Nominee.
They don’t put up fences and keep out signs for fun. I’m sad that this kid had to pay the ultimate price for his foolishness. Over a bloody HAT!

Do you (A) actually care about this topic and this is your true opinion or do you (B) just take some sadistic pleasure in being a contrarian? Of course, there is (C): Do you not realize you are being a jackass while obliviously thinking it makes you look, somehow, cool?
A, B, or C?

I’m so sorry, and prayers for your son, and all his loved ones.

None? The kid was seventeen. I did some really stupid (at times potentially fatal) stuff at 17 years of age. I'm still around purely by the grace of God. It's unfortunate this kid's foolishness caught up to him. Doubly unfortunate for his family.

“but teenagers often do dumb things without considering the consequences.”
True. I’m lucky that I lived through my teens and my early 20’s, and a lot of us are.

does anyone remember the woman who had both of her feet cut off by some tower ride that drops people from the sky? That was in Louisville. And she was just a kid. Thirteen years old.

You don’t sound like you regret it. I didn’t realize that trespass deserved the death penalty. God forbid he jaywalked.

marked 'restricted area. Authorized personnel only,' and a sign on a locked gate that read 'Danger zone. Do not enter. Authorized personnel only," oh well there is the problem, probably could not read it, needed to be in hieroglypics, gang tag or pictigram of a head falling off shoulders. In all fairness tho, maybe a sign telling about the danger instead of hey you cant be here.

I think we should be sympathetic because we have all done profoundly stupid things in our lifetimes, and outside the grace of God we would be just as dead. Also, these are teen boys, the most notorious dumb-thing-doers.

“Why should I be upset when natural selection takes a swipe at someone and hits the mark?”
Indeed. I didn't mean to sound heartless. But, he wasn’t a child he was 17 and should have had enough brains to read the signs. He took it upon himself to enter a restricted area and paid with his life, thus the reason it was restricted to begin with.
I do not believe that anyone deserves death for trespassing at an amusement park. At the same time actions have consequences.
To: Grizzled Bear
I did some really stupid (at times potentially fatal) stuff at 17 years of age. I don't think there are any of us who didn't have a bout of bad judgement in our teens.
And I doubt there are many who would feel unsympathetic if they would have been on the scene. Unless, of course, they're psychos.
