Not only thast the kid did, but that the kid went on to also become a mother or father at 12.

I don’t think the demographics worked like that.
Many people died in childhood, a few lived into their thirties or older and raised several surviving children. We are the descendants of the survivors, obviously.
The “averages” or “medians” don’t explain everything.
