[Of course I don't believe that Quayle is stupid at all. In fact I think he probably would be the best choice of this generation to be President of the United States, but in American politics, perception is reality.]

Somebody at the Globe must be thinking "Obama is going to be a disaster of George McGovern-like proportions. It's not too late to have Hillary get the nomination"
Quayle was set up
Per Washington Post
Working from an inaccurate flash card prepared by a teacher, he corrected William Figueroa, 12, when the child spelled "potato" on the blackboard making the boy add an unnecessary "e" at the word's end.
I know that. Reread what I wrote.

You know, you read my mind! I was talking with someone over the weekend and we thought, yeah, how perfect. Obama tanks like McGovern, or is found to have bogus birth certificate (as some suggest), or whatever. And then Hillary un-suspends her campaign and swoops in to 'save' the election. Could be the Dems even know how unappealing Hillary can come off, so they put up a shill, who'll eventually fail, and she'll rescue the whole thing. Haha, that was our running joke. Now, not even that far-fetched.
Footage and comments from the protesters would make a good ad.
“In the midst of the uproar, a small group of Lawndale residents gathered to rally against the Democratic candidate for the US Senate, Barack Obama.
Obama’s Republican opponent, Alan Keyes, trailed badly in the polls and was not seen as a serious challenger. But the organizers had a simple message: Cecil Butler had donated $3,000 to Obama’s campaign. Habitat had close ties to Obama. And Obama had remained silent about Lawndale’s plight.
Paul Johnson, who helped to organize the protest, said Obama must have known about the problems.
“How didn’t he know?” said Johnson. “Of course he knew. He just didn’t care.”
