Interesting read. I use AVG Free Edition and love it.

Yes, I’ve used it for many years and absolutely love it. It’s worry-free, install and forget. Genius. Unfortunately, it’s not free anymore (we knew it couldn’t last) and I keep getting a popup warning to upgrade to version 8.0 ($60). I’m trying to decide whether or not to upgrade or go back to one of the other anti-virus packages.

Me too ... but limited to 7.5 ... I run W98 .... hardly a headache, easy to fix, serves the purpose.

I’ve been on Mac OS now for the last half year or so (unwilling to upgrade to Vista). I don’t run any antivirus stuff. No need.

Back when I ran Windows, I didn’t use antivirus software either. No need. No problems. All you have to do is use a little common sense.

I have several machines sitting behind a D-Link firewall with WPA-encrypted WiFi. The D-Link’s logs show an average of about 15 hits an hour. The usual stuff: port 139, etc.
