Your laptop has a somewhat expensive 17” LCD, according to the sources from Google. Plus it's labelled a studio / advanced model, so even minor flaws with the LCD are inexcusable.

You shouldn't let them get away with this. Attach a good resolution photograph or two of the problem in the LCD, with the email to Sony.
