One can loath McCain and yet see what a difference ONE supreme court justice makes; for everyone reading the preceding sentence and agreeing there is probably somebody saying the same thing except in reference to Obama.
Noting new here.
The few exceptions that come to mind are Ike, being so extremely popular he did not need the base, Reagan (although less so) due to massive charisma and impeccable credentials to the base and some incumbents.
An Obama victory in November finishes Rodham off (and McCain too) and will likely result in 4 utterly inept years of mismanaged liberal government and the election of a for-real conservative in 2012—provided we get our act together between now and then.
So, there’s more nose-holding than one day in November for those who vote for McCain. If you’re my age, you’ll likely be holding your nose the rest of your life. So, I’m not gonna hold my nose for a moment. I’m resigned to 4 years of Obamanation during which the conservative cause will more easily galvanize than it did in 2006-08. So I say:
Bobby Jindal 2012. Be there or be nowhere.
Just how many YOUNG and healthy Ruth Bader Ginsbergs on the Supreme Court (for life!) could we have before you decided Obama over McCain wasn’t worth it?
4 years of McCain will lead to 8 years of Hillary, but 4 years of Obama will lead to Jindal for 8 years???
Here's a question - who did you expect to get the R nomination a year ago. Guess wrong? You bet you did.
The attacks on our country by Al-Qaeda including 9/11 were given ample boost by the neglectful policies of the Clinton admin. Obama would be much worse than even the Clintons. The risk of another successful attack would go up precipitously. That's why I'm going to hold my nose and vote for McCain.

Nice trolling there, Obamabot!
The lose the war to win a moral victory only appeals to the idiots who are in the minority on this board and in the voting world.
I think Obama winning in 2008 would be an utter disaster,..one we would not be able to recover from...more Liberals on the Supreme Court would totally rewrite the Constitution......
This is a DNC talking point: Convince the conservatives who dislike McCain that we’ll be better off in the long run with Obama. I notice you have arrived recently, as have most of the others reciting this mantra.
Paleo, way to many “if”s in your scenario to be feasible.
If you cant hold your nose, try a clothespin or a gas mask!. Or consider yourself responsible when a muslim-apostate leftist marxist opportunist picks SCOTUS justices who may sit the bench for up to 40 years. Who will be Hussein’s SCOTUS advisors or choices?
william ayers...jeremiah wright....al sharpton....patrick deval.....jesse jackson....james cone.....bernadine dohrn...mayor daley.....edward said....louis farrakhan....or maybe....george soros..after all he’s paying for a good part of this. Benjamin Franklin said it right, “He that lies down with dogs, shall rise with fleas.”
Let me ask you a couple of questions that bother me:
What happens if McCain goes just far enough left to win WITHOUT significant support from the Conservative base? Will the Republicans learn the lesson that they have to be “moderate” to win?
Or for that matter, let’s say Obama wins (which I think is more likely than not at this point). He does a lousy job - inflation out of control, terrorists out of control, the economy in bad shape, etc. With the press on his side, President Bush gets much of the blame. What makes you think that the Republicans will learn the lesson that they have to go RIGHT?
The question is, how much pain are you willing to have the country go through, how many liberal justices on the SC do you want, how much damage to the Constitution do you want, just because the more conservative candidate is not the candidate you wanted?
At this point, I will vote McCain and hope for a better choice in the future.
OK PaleoBob you look like a “nice” strategist.
But nobody can tell ,even you, that your political forecastings/fictions are right(McCain>Clinton and Obama>Conservative).
You seem to give a lot of weight to your predictions.
On the other hand it is certain that Obama IS way worth and WILL harm badly USA and the world(we still feel the consequences of CARTER’s one term presidency) even if he stays for one term(WHICH IS NOT SURE AT ALL)
I can’t disagree more. Obama will get years just like Clinton did. The media will paint a picture that ‘happy days are here again’. Unless we suffer a massive terrorist attack that can be attributed to his mistakes or the economy absolutely falls to the point that Jimmy Carter looks good, the media will cover for him successfully.
He is the left most candidate in American history, and we cannot permit him to step foot in the White House.
