N. Koreans Going South by Boat: 6 times in this Month alone
Only one out of ten wanting to return..."N. Korea beefing up shore surveillance"
(Seoul=Yonhap News) Kim Kwi-geun = N. Koreans came down to the South by boat, 6 times in June alone, it has been disclosed.
A government source said on June 26, "N. Korean people came into our territorial water 6 times in this month alone, both in West Sea(Yellow Sea) and East Sea(Sea of Japan.) This is highly unusual, and we are closely monitoring N. Korean reactions."
He said, "In four of those incidents, they stole powered-boats and escaped from N. Korea. As a result, N. Korean authorities reportedly stepped up their surveillance on shore area near DMZ in both East and West Sea."
On June 23, a small (N. Korean) boat(a tender) with one person on board was found in East Sea, and on June 24, a (S. Korean) fishing boat spotted a (N. Korean) fishing boat with Mr. Kim(age:60) and his son on board, and reported it to police.
The source said, "Of ten N. Koreans who came into the South, only one person, who was found on June 23, showed his intention to go back. We are working on the way to hand him over to the North."

This is a busy fishing season here, and N. Korean boats sometimes wander into S. Korean waters. However, this is rather unusual, as the report says. Especially with four definite cases of premeditated escape.
That sucks Tiger
MANNNN it sucks to be North Korean LOL!
It seems like the best vehicle to defect from a Communist tarpit is the boat, or rather anything that can float on water including rafts.
Can we blame any North Korean citizen (victim) for trying to escape any way he can?
