Regardless of what happens with this, Hussein Obama Mugabe will be the first President with a foreign born father if he is elected.

In his father's country and most other places on Earth, that means he inherits nationality from that country through his father.

In what way can we say that such a person's loyalty to the United States is absolute and un-questioned?

Real proof would probably be the Hawiian records department declaring there is not or a different certificate for him or a different certificate appearing for Barry that has different information.

I think that's true, but I have my doubts that they would do that. Wouldn't a BC be considered confidential? I heard years ago that Jimmy Carter's campaign had his BC sealed. I don't know if that's true either. But would someone have to go through the process of having it sealed to make it unavailable?

I now agree with others who have said this is probably a diversionary tactic. Diverting from what is interesting, but Obama is the first really internet savvy Presidential candidate. He “gets it” enough to think of giving the bloggers “make work” to occupy them for awhile, or at least get them off the scent of something else.

I don't believe there is anything internet saavy about this. The blogosphere is filled with numerous special interests each going after their own angle. However, there may be something MSM saavy about this. The blogosphere has what amounts to infinite attention to detail. However, the MSM are a bunch of ADHD nincompoops. They will discount the whole blogosphere if this turns out to be a dead end.

That will set up the MSM cover story for the rest of the campaign. Any new item will just be poo-pooed as yet another birth certificate/swift boat dead end.

That said they gave Senator McCain a hassle about his birth certificate is it too much to ask the same of the Illinois Senator?

By the way the last time I looked Obama went to law school and passed the bar. These guys are trained in handing over copious documents in the discovery phase of law suits. Obama as a Lawyer should be held to a higher standard. Obama as a presidential candidate should be held to an even higher standard than a lawyer.

I’m wondering, since the Constitution has specific age and national origin requirements, is there an official process that certifies that the candidates meet the requirements? Is anyone in the gubmint authorized to check? Or do we just wing it?

I'm pretty sure that the horrifying but true answer is: "we wing it".

If nothing else comes from this issue, I hope we will at LEAST institute a process for removing these sorts of doubts in the future, especially with the number of illegals in this country.

That being said, here are my bets for how this particular event plays out:
43.28% chance: image is an unprocessed scan of a legitimate document
22.52% chance: image is a 'touched up' scan of a legitimate document (rush job that got tweaked cosmetically)
34.21% chance: Obama is still eligible, but someone decided to cut corners and post a fake instead of waiting to get the real thing:
00.01% chance: It's a complete fake, and the real document would reveal some fact that Obama doesn't want revealed, anything from an extra middle name to an reason for ineligibility.

He would be a natural-born citizen, and thus be eligible for the Presidency, even if he were born outside the US:

“... if one parent is an alien and as long as the other parent is a citizen of the U.S. who lived in the U.S. for at least five years (with military and diplomatic service included in this time)”

His mother was a citizen who had lived at least 5 years in the US. As long as she was his mother, and he wasn't found under a rock or some such, his birth certificate is irrelevant.

Well, Obama had his opponent Ryan’s divorce records UNSEALED, so he really can’t expect much sympathy if he gets defensive about his privacy.

Both contain a green bamboo background, though one is noticeably darker. Both contain borders that are noticeably different. Obama’s is green, and Decosta’s is black. Polarik did a fabulous job of pointing out the obvious flaws on the border of Obama’s alleged certificate. The most compelling and disturbing items of note are the lack of an embossed seal and the registrar’s signature, on the copy being presented by Obama. Decosta’s seal, even faded with time is quite prominent,

Differences in the looks probably don't matter. I've requested my birth cirtificate ("certification of live birth", you never get the original) a few times over the years, and each one was different as the county used different types, sizes and patterns of paper.

However, ALL of them were embossed with a signature.
