You know, the funny thing is that the troll is still alive.

“What is a ZOT really?”

It’s Slinky! It’s Slinky! A fun and wonderful toy!

“I mean where does the term come from, and what, exactly, does it mean?”

The eternal question, always asked, always pondered, never answered in any given lifetime.

“Metaphysically, is it a position, a statement, so at variance with reality and the facts that it needs to be identified by ZOT!!”

It’s a metaphysical theory, a theory about theories.
One can tell you what it’s not.
There is no spoon.
But there are alotta forks.

“Does it not, really, betray our own insecurities, our need for easy labels? “

What insecurities?
You’re not one of them... girly men, are ya?
Kinda creepin’ me out with that question.
Gives me a mental image of a pink tutu clad man whimpering in the corner while holding a “See Spot Run” book while wailing that ‘they’ are gonna get Spot.

“Just a thought.”

Oh, carry on then.
But carry ons cost extra now.

I went to school in Lubbock.

I have been to Brownfield, and also Slaton.

I fully support zotting both.

Let’s hope he saw the humor in my post, demented as it usually is.

I have been to Brownfield, and also Slaton.

I fully support zotting both.

Fully understandable.

However, both may have some "redeeming social virtues".

Slaton, for one, has an outstanding bakery (The Slaton Bakery). It's one of those old-timey bakeries which displays about forty or fifty different kinds of goodies...and the first breath upon entering can amount to 10,000 calories. They sell their wedding cakes nationwide.

For its part, Brownfield's city park has a flock of exotic ducks -- who are given free reign to amble back and forth across U.S. 380. This leads to the only known "Duck Crossing" sign in the state of Texas.

I still don't get what zot means. But I was wondering, is the word "manga" Japanese for "cartoon drawings of what Asians think white people look like?"

I do have one fond memory of Slaton. It was where we went to buy beer. They had some fine package stores in that town.

Truly, it's been a long time since I have been to Lubbock, or West Texas in general. I do recall New Mexico blowing over in one-half of the year, and blowing back in the next half. Some of those sand storms were memorable.

OMG. That is too funny. I have been here a few years now and have never seen this. That is too rich. (Saved a copy of the picture of the sporkweasel for future reference).

Being from Lubbock, surely, you remember The Tree.

It was a scrubby elm tree on the grounds of the Lubbock County court house. Residents came from miles around to see it, wondering what it was...

Oh I get it...

Actually, I am from Texas, but not the “semi-arid” part.

We had trees in East Texas.
