You can still use the incandesant bulb after 2014, they just cannot be sold after 2014

And actually, I think that there are some new bulbs that are "legal"...has something to do with lumens vs wattage consumed. Interestingly enough, the newer technology came out shortly before this asinine legislation. Purely coincidental, I'm positive. I'm also sure that lobbyists for Phillips, GE, etc were completely uninformed of the technology, or at least completely impartial.

I'll need to dig out the particulars on the bill. I do know that it does NOT mandate CFLs, it mandates a low-power-consumption bulb. CFL's are just the most common type.

There will be some incandescent bulbs that will have to continue to be manufactured and sold. I'm thinking of the small chandelier type bulbs, also the teardrop style bulbs, the bathroom vanity light bulbs, spotlight bulbs, and many others, even the 25w-40w refrigerator/freezer bulbs.

Can you imagine using a CFL bulb as a freezer light bulb. That thing would never come on when you open the freezer door. :)

And just what proper definition of an incandescent bulb does the ban effect? We keep hearing about home lighting bulbs but what about flashlight bulbs, the bulbs on your old Lionel Train set, the one in the nose of you child's Operation Game, the Bulb that keeps your pet turtle warm, the traffic lights, older headlights, the love tester at the arcade, movie marquees, Las Vegas, and on and on and on, of incandescents that must continued to be manufactured. This 2014 law shows the how pathetic and stupid the people in Congress are.

“I do know that it does NOT mandate CFLs”

Congress has passed a bill making it MANDANTORY to use CFL’s by 2012...

You might want to do some research = besides, the bigger point is that it’s not up to the Fed. Gov’t to mandate what products we buy and use in own homes - that negates the Free Market system
