The recent Supreme Court decision of Boumediene v. Bush concerning the habeas corpus rights of enemy combatants held at Guantanamo Naval Base illustrates the need for a president who will nominate jurists that follow the Constitution and not their own political ideology. For the first time, the Court has now extended U.S. constitutional rights to foreign nationals residing outside the country. Whats all the more galling is that the recipients of this right were engaged in killing U.S. and coalition forces in Afghanistan and elsewhere.
Now, this same court has agreed to hear the petition of a deported Pakistani national who wants to sue former Attorney General John Ashcroft and FBI Director Robert Mueller. He claims they subjected him to harsh treatment during several years of detention, and discriminated against him because of his nationality and religion. Have the liberal members of the Court secretly converted to Islam, or do they just hate President Bush like all other left-wing ideologues?
Habeas corpus means: Produce the body. A writ of habeas corpus is a court directive for an agency detaining a prisoner to bring him to the court to determine the lawfulness of the imprisonment.

Take note, those (understandably) tempted to withhold a vote from the Republicans. A vote against McCain is a vote for Obama.
...and a failure to vote, or a vote for a third party candidate (including Mickey Mouse) with no chance to win is actually equivalent to 1/2 of a vote for Obama.
I don't like John McCain's politics. However, I love my country more than I dislike him, so I simply cannot allow Obama to waltz into office. The Supreme Court is one of the primary reasons for my views on this subject - because even IF we toss that idiot out on his arse in 2012, his legacy will last for 30 or more years with his replacements for Stevens (now 87) and Ginsburg (mid-'70's and sick). If you can tolerate more 5-4 decisions against the letter of the Constitution and against common sense, let Obama win and he'll be sure to preserve the current ideological make-up of the Court. If you want a CHANCE of some change to something more favorable to an Originalist interpretation of the Constitution, then vote for McCain.
GUN OWNERS, this is especially critical for us. The Heller case will come down this week (not today, dammit!), but it is likely to be a very narrow decision...meaning that many more gun cases will come up in the future. Do you want ideological clones of Stevens and Ginsburg voting on your rights?
This, of course, says nothing about our foreign, defense and economic policies. Obama will be a disaster in all three areas and, again, I cannot let him just take office because I'm pissed off and take my ball home like a spoiled little kid.
A vote for Obama is the wrong road vote for America.
We conservatives are like the boy who held off the hole in the dike with his thumb. Only in that story the townfolk hurried to help him save the dike. In our case the pressure is building and building and eventually the full tide of Socialism is going to smash the dike and drown those of us trying to hold it back.
I see no way out. There are too many people who have been too successfully propagandized for too long. I was at a gathering of successful men on Saturday, just a nice picknick on a buddies patio. One fellow was going on and on about how evil “corporations” are, how the oil companies need to have their profits siezed, etc.
These types of things would have had you branded a Communist, correctly, in the 1950s and barred from gainful employment. Now it’s the accepted wisdom.
John McCain can’t stop the wave. He can ride it and maybe it’s a little slower. But ultimately he’s in sycn with 50% of what the left wants, and will be unable to do much to stop the other 50%.
As for the SC justices: he voted to confirm Ginsberg, a known total leftist. Not only that he is *BRAGGING* about it to lib groups as part of his run. Only two of the last 14 justices were appointed by Dems. *ALL* the crappy laws you hate were brought to you by a GOP SC.
Sure I will vote for McCain, but I don’t see him preventing much of what is to come. There is just too much built up on the other side of that dike to be held back much longer.
However--I think Obama, without Congressional restraint, would place Radical Extremists on the Supreme Court who would make Ginsburg and Stevens look like conservatives.
Do not underestimate the insanity of the Radical Left just because we cannot imagine it.
