Wonderful predictions on China's growth are all predicated on the fact that economic and political situation, both inside and outside China, remain favorable for a long time.Tough economic times now would be a political disaster, and lead to widespread social unrest, which is what the central government is desperately trying to avoid.

That is why the sustainability of China's growth is questioned. A country's growth rate usually tapers off when its economy matures. However, this is not what I am talking about.
It is about whether China's high growth rate can be sustainable while it is still a developing country.
