On the run? Count it as time served, convicts told

Prisoners who go on the run could have the time cut from their sentence, internal Government papers revealed last night. Convicts will be able to count both the day they absconded and the day they were caught as time spent behind bars. A criminal could walk out of an open jail in the morning and hand himself in the next day, and both days would count as time served. The Tories accused the Government of 'rewarding bad behaviour'.

The world is getting more insane by the day...

There's going to be reckoning with reality. How much blood will it cost this time?

It would be a cheap way to hold prisoners, just have them check in with the jail once a day and there would be no expense to feed them or house them.

Well hell, why bother serving at all?

No death penalty, no jail time. Just do what you damn well please in the UK. And I wanted to go visit...

My friend and I have been dreaming of a European vacation since we were 12 and 13. Now that we are in our 30’s and can possibly save the money for it, we are afraid. Of EUROPE!

Do we go?

The incentive to stay in jail has just shrank a bit.

I once loved Great Britain. I still do. The trouble is, there’s another country sitting where GB used to be, and I don’t know where GB is any more.

Isn’t that similar to how Brittany (npi) Spears turned a four day sentence into like one day? Same insanity on this side of the pond.

I guess they figure that by demonstrating their cunning, they are eligible for ‘slick behavior’ credits.

If you think this is bad then research the Swedish prison system where Europeans commit crimes so they can have a better life!

Counting the day of escape and the day of return to custody as days in jail is common practice. But the escape charge is what gets you a whole lot more time to do.

“Do we go?”

Maybe you could rent a villa in the countryside of Italy, France, Spain, England and spend time among the remaining sane individuals—country people!

I’ve looked at Villarama.com and VRBO, and one of my customers is renting one in Spain this Summer. Take a few other friends and split it up.

P.S. I am not a travel agent, I’m a courier!
