“LA is lost”

I was pretty shocked to learn that half of the students in the LA Unified School District don’t even speak English.

I hadn’t realized it was quite THAT bad.

A bit more digging revealed that two ethnic groups had about 80% graduation rates, one had 60%, and another had about 40%. The overall rate was 44%. I’ll leave it to you to discern what all that information infers. Suffice it to say that the tax payers of LA & Califoria are spending over $20,000 per year for every high school graduate.

It’s not just LA—unless something is done about this, our whole nation is screwed.

The place I work (in LA) has large numbers of employees from other countries, most of whom are here on non-immigrant visas. Many of them also have kids in elementary school here. The funny thing is that they all know how bad illegal immigration has made the local schools. This one lady I work with, from Nepal of all places, and who's been in the U.S. for about 4 years, knows exactly which schools in her area are full of "English-learners," and are to be avoided at all costs, and which aren't.
