The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has added Ann Kirkpatrick (D-Flagstaff) and Bob Lord (D-Phoenix) to its Red to Blue program.
Kirkpatrick is running against Sydney Hay (R-Munds Park) in the 1st Congressional District for the seat being vacated by Rep. Rick Renzi (R-Flagstaff).
Lord is competing against current congressman John Shadegg (R-Phoenix) in the 3rd Congressional District.
The Red to Blue program will provide candidates with economic and strategic assistance, including increased exposure. In the 2006 election cycle, the program raised nearly $22.6 million for Democratic candidates.
Chris Van Hollen, Chairman of the DCCC, said in a statement, "The candidates for change being named to the DCCC Red to Blue program are running strong campaigns and are committed to making things easier for middle class families in their districts."

The Democrats’ financial advantage grows larger every day, and it looks like the GOP isn’t prepared for that.
One of the great things about America is that we’ve got the greatest government money can buy. If your party has the money, you can buy it. It appears George Soros is going to be buying the U.S. Government this year and giving it to the ‘RATS as a Christmas present.
Colors are wrong.
Someone needs to tell the Democrats and press that- they picked the color scheme.
That aside, Republicans are getting outraised in one race after another. Historically, they superior funding to counteract a liberal press corps.
It’s like I said, if we can’t even appropriate the right color back and tell them we’re not going to be labelled the Communist color, how the hell will we ever either win back Congress let alone with the psychological war ? We need to be defining THEM, not allowing US to be defined by the bad guys. This “Thank you, sir. May I have another ?” crap has got to stop.
The Dems are willing to work hard and map out a plan to gain power. The GOP just indugles in Abramnoff (sp?) money. It also doesn’t help when conservative groups bicker amongst themselves for the right to speak for the conservative movement. The conservatives can’t set their priorities on what is important. Right now conservatives just want their egos stroked in instead of actually promoting the conservative cause. Conservatives won’t be taken seriously until they are willing to pull it other like they did in 2004. With the sad state of affairs, I don’t see if happening until the middle of the next decade.
