When I read what Fred writes about constitutional issues, particularly federalism, I find him to be a limited and local government kind of guy. He has a real grasp of the difference between a national, democratic, centralized government that directs one’s every move and thought from Washington DC and Sacramento for the “good of the majority” and a government that respects the retained, undelegated rights of the individual, a representative republican form of government with the limited police powers of regulation delegated to local elected government. He understands that the federal powers in the Constitution are enumerated to set forth that “so far Congress shall go, and no farther.” He understands that the Bill of Rights are not privileges gifted to the citizens, but limits on federal power from encroaching upon the unalienabl rights of the citizens.

I doubt John McCain has any inkling of any of this. Best leave the picks in Fred’s knowledgeable hands.

What I find intersting here is that McCain himself realized he had so little credibility on judges (rightfully so), that he had to turn that duty over to someone else.

In this I agree with John. Now, if only I could believe him.

If he wants me to believe he is going to wave his right to have whoever he wants, he barking up the wrong tree.

This man has changed his mind on every subject there is. Now I’m supposed to believe this idea won’t change and I can’t believe that for a moment.
