I am beginning to wonder if the GOP thinks it, long term can “win” the latino vote over social issues/religion. I am not saying that is an accurate assumption, but I wouldn’t put it past the powers that be to think they can eventually win the majority of the latino vote and thus solidify power.

Of course, we already know the dems think that.

If that were the case, why would the GOP be so anxious to toss the "religious right" voters they already have under the bus?

Latinos don't vote on social issues/religion or they wouldn't vote mostly for Democrats. Like most new immigrants, they vote for the socialist who will dole out more goodies to them than the other guy.
