Have you seen the Baby Alex political ad that the radical-left, George Soros-funded organization "MoveOn" has produced? To some, it plays like a Saturday Night Live skit, but the intent is deadly serious: to damage John McCain.
In the ad, a young mother holding a baby says:
"Hi, John McCain, this is Alex and he's my first. ... So, John McCain, when you say you would stay in Iraq for a hundred years, were you counting on Alex? Because, if you were, you can't have him."
I know, you think I'm making that up. No way. These loopy MoveOn people spent more than a half-million dollars making and marketing the ad. No word on what Baby Alex's cut was.
My question is this: Who on earth would take that message seriously? What kind of voter is that supposed to reach?
The basic premise of the ad was a conversation from last January between Sen. McCain and the late Tim Russert. McCain told Russert that U.S. troops are needed around the world but we have to keep them safe. The Q and A went like this:
Russert: President Bush has talked about our staying in Iraq for 50 years.
McCain: Maybe 100. We've been in South Korea -- we've been in Japan for 60 years. That'd be fine with me, as long as Americans are not being injured or harmed.
Now, Baby Alex might not understand the geo-political implications of the comment, but honest adults should. The U.S. military is stationed overseas to protect our interests and to defuse dangerous situations, like turmoil in the Persian Gulf. That's tough for a child to digest, but, come on, it's not a kooky position even if you disagree.
Propaganda aside, I liked the Baby Alex ad so much that I'm suggesting MoveOn produce a series of them. Let's see, how about Baby Alex thanking his mom for not aborting him? That has a political theme to it.
Also, Baby Alex could extend his gratitude to the FBI for keeping his parents safe since the attack on 9/11. Alex could also, through his perspicacious mother, demonstrate his eagerness to see Islamic fascism defeated -- so he and all the other babies won't have to deal with it when they grow up.
Perhaps Baby Alex's mom could also explain to him that he will never have to live under a tyrant like Saddam Hussein because his country embraces freedom. And then, after all that, Alex could settle in for a nice nap knowing that a nutritious meal will be ready for him upon awakening -- a meal millions of babies in other countries will never get.
Those ideas should keep MoveOn very busy this election year, and I am definitely looking forward to seeing the spots on TV. Thank you, George Soros. You're a patriot.
The most glaring thing about the ad to me was there was no dad. He isn’t even hinted at. She says the baby is “her” first, not “our” first. She is a baby momma.
She'll sew his uniform by hand from scratch...(8^D)
Definitely sarcasm.
O’Reilly has this feature at the end of every program called “pinhead or patriot?”
He names a couple of people, be they celebs or politicians...whatever...just names you might know.
Then he tells why one of them is a pinhead and the other is a patriot.
The sarcasm he uses here means that in reality, Soros is about as big a pinhead as you can find.
(I’m not saying YOU don’t know this already...I’m thinking of possible FR “viewers” who might not...)
True.
Another glaring point is that baby Alex will make the decision when he grows up, not his dumb mother.
Just like Cindy Sheehan’s wonderful, patriot son Casey who joined the military and gave his life in Iraq for a cause HE believed in.
Someone should point out that it has been the Democrats pushing for us to reinstate the draft.
(Im not saying YOU dont know this already...Im thinking of possible FR viewers who might not...)
There are a lot of Bill O'Reilly haters haters here in FR, but what I appreciate of Bill O'Reilly is, that he speaks out against both sides when he thinks they are wrong. Not just one side. Like a true Independent that he is
Come to think of it, Alex probably won’t be able to get into the military. Children from fatherless homes are much more likely to drop out of school, become drug addicts, and have criminal records. That will disqualify him.
I like that approach.
I just vehemently disagree with some of O’Reilly’s views about specifics that he speaks out on.
Like his merciless attacks on the Swiftboaters and the Oil Companies, just to name two...
But the approach is fine.
He reminds me of the nursery rhyme about the little girl with the curl in the middle of her forehead:
When he’s right, he’s very VERY right, but when he’s wrong, he’s HORRID.
I’m thinking about Casey Sheehan. He had lot’s of strikes against him. He had a father, but came from a broken home with a raving nutcase for a mom. But he died a hero.
lot’s = lots
Wow, didn't know we had a S&M contingent here on FR
Just kidding..............my beef with BOR is he needs to remind me almost nightly without him: this poor dumb American that I am, needs him to protect me from the big and nasty evil doers. Also without BOR, my brain would freeze up from having to think for myself. That gets real old after a while
I know, there was recently something; I don't remember what it was, that I did not agree with him
Why does George Soros hate American’s so much? Why does he hate America? Why does he hate priciples of capitalism?
Last I heard we had no draft so if the little lib wants to opt out of military service he can.
Yeah but remember it’s the left who wants to reinstate the draft
Soros’ citizenship should be revoked and he should be deported and banned for ever setting a foot in this country
Their reasons for doing it are purely selfish in that with the draft the anti war movement would come alive again because they can again make the claim only the poor are being drafted.
Face it, the anti war asshats are a miserable failure this time around and they know it. They haven’t been able to budge this president and the lib Congress hasn’t the stones to do anyhting even in the face of 65% of the people being against the war.
O’Reilly’s attacks on the oil companies exhibits an astounding ignorance of the market place. I actually do not believe he is this stupid but rather he is pandering to the left because he wants the viewers from that side.
Mostly where he and I part company is on his view of the oil companies "gouging the folks." I tend to go along with Neil Cavuto on that view, where increased demand and speculators have driven the price up.
