First Read: Obama forgoes public funding (Didn't his campaign sue McCain?)

*** Obama opts out: In a video to supporters that his campaign has just released, Obama has announced that he's opting out of the public financing system for the general election. This move has been widely speculated, but it's a reversal from comments he made earlier in the campaign season that he would he accept general funds -- which gives the candidates about him $85 million to spend after the conventions. Assuming each of Obama's 1.5 million-plus contributors gives him $100, that comes to $150 million; if they give him an average of $200, that’s $300 million. Campaign finance issues are always debated heavily on editorial pages, but not among voters. Ask McCain how many new votes he's earned with his support for campaign finance reform. As for McCain, he has to make the choice of 1) taking the federal funds, accepting the fact he'll be outspent 3-1; or 2) opting out too and get himself bogged down at fundraisers in September instead of doing town halls.

Obama will have much more money than McCain if McCain sticks to public funding. In an election where independents will play a large roll in who get’s elected this may make a difference.

The DNC wants McCain investigated for saying he might do what Obama did do.

Go to any meeting of shrinks and you will find at least 8 out of ten are hard core liberals. All employees or contractual EES with an HMO and all believe the government is going to fund mental health no matter what it takes.

Liberalism is now the reigning secular religion. The core supporters are those with more than a college degree and likely to rely on government for part or all of their income.

This is a tough hurdle for Senator McCain. 300 million for Obama would be a conservative number. They are convinced he can win, WOT will end, the environment and climate will be saved and so on and so on.

And think John McCain helped write the law that now leaves him trailing in the money vote. Too bad John, I’ll not send a penny until you move to the right.

Wouldn't BS Obama’s reneging on the deal cancel the deal?

Disheartening and sickening. It’s hard to argue with someone who is not restricted by logical thought.

Your post just reminded me of a conversation I had with my sister, I had posted before:

It isn’t often I can speak my mind and heart openly. Since I live in Southern California any demonstration of common sense and patriotism is quickly stomped on by people around me. I was trying to have an intelligent conversation with my sister the other day, attempting to explain to her what the difference between Liberalism and Conservatism is, she had no idea and the realization of the truth made her angry with my political stance. She works in the social field, thus is flooded with cries for help from the poorest of the poor for the government’s help. In her eyes the government is the only answer.

When I explained to her that the government’s money is OUR money, all the taxes they wage on us, all the money they spend comes from private sectors, she was stunned. She had not realized where the money was actually coming from. This did not change her mind though.

She quickly demanded from me, if the government does not provide me with a paycheck, who will? If the government does not help those poor people who will? She criticized me again for standing with conservatives saying that I have forgotten where I come from and who I am. I told her that my stance is directly linked to where I come from. I’m from Nicaragua, I was born in a communist state, so was she. I attempted to explain that the reason why we are in the USA is because of the radical stance of the Liberal government and every step we take towards Obama or Hillary is closer towards a state that made my family seek refuge in the United States.

If you are ounce a Muslim aren't you always a Muslim? And if a Muslim converts to anything other, isn't he subject to death? Trying to understand the Quran.

He had hoped to participate in the public financing system, but he had to change.

In the meantime, who are these 1.5 million contributors? Most liberal moonbats don't have money and they certainly aren't going to send 2, 3 or 400 dollars to this guy. Could we be seeing Soros' money being "debundled"?

Add to that the $100's of millions Obama will get in "free" advertising and positive coverage from all of the LameStream Media.
