Nominating the party's maverick and the oldest man ever to run for the first time for the Presidency as its standard bearer was a collossal mistake.

What can we do short of a rebellion at the Convention? As far as I can tell, McCain won the nomination fair and square. And it isn't as if "true conservatives" didn't have horses in the race. At one time or another, we had people like Fred Thompson, Duncan Hunter, Tom Tancredo, Sam Brownback and others in the hunt. What happened? They lost. For whatever reasons, "true conservatives" didn't come together behind a standard bearer in sufficient numbers to keep a candidate in the race.

So what do we do now? Well, you can either be a quitter or keep fighting the libs and 'Rats by playing the best game we can with the hand we've been dealt. I for one will not willingly turn the country over to a Marxist-socialist like Obama without a fight, which is what we'll be doing if we stay home and pout or spitefully vote for some hopeless third-party candidate.

McCain became the presumptive nominee of the party with just 31% of the total primary vote. Open and winner take all primaries helped McCain game the system. He was by far not the choice of the majority of Reps. The rules have to be changed or we will again have someone like McCain as the nominee.

FYI: McCain was the only top tier candidate of either party who couldn't win his/her home state with 50% or more of the vote. McCain won AZ with 48% of the vote.

I hope Reps don't stay home. Far better to vote for a third party candidate rather the hurt the rest of the Reps down ballot. I for one will be leaving the office of the Presidency blank this year, the first time I have not voted for a Rep for President in over 40 years. McCain and Obama both favor amnesty, which will destroy this country with the stroke of a pen. I will not be complicit in supporting any candidate who holds this position. If John McCain can vote on the basis of conscience and principle over party, so can I.

The reason that there is no conservative is because the conservative vote was split by too many chefs in the kitchen. Weather by accident or design, you be the judge. We don’t have a conservative candidate and will not ever have one again until we figure out a way to let only one conservative run in the primary. Maybe there needs to be a primary before the primary to select the candidates to make sure there are only two running in the primary. The idea of Huck and McCain teaming up was unacceptable. The bottom line, there were too many conservatives running in the primary, no wonder why McCain one, there was no one else like him running. It’s not right, that the one with the least popular ideas wins because he has the least opposition, it’s just no right.
