My God, never in my lifetime did I ever expect to see one of the houses of Congress propose nationalizing an industry. This is truly frightening.

With the inevitable unions, featherbedding, inability to fire anybody, lack of fundamental market forces determining where investment should be made, political paybacks governing investment choices, the government wouldn’t be able to deliver any oil at all. I can’t believe anybody in the US would believe the government could do a better job than the private sector.

I wholeheartedly agree. This is so much more than an issue of oil prices or refinery problems. The mere proposal of our government seizing control of industry as a solution to any problem we may have seems very dangerous.
