Think of the thousands of new high paying AMERICAN jobs that would be created from manufacture and deployment of deep water rigs that could be deployed in the heretofore unaccessible state and federal waters. Not to mention the huge influx of money into state and federal treasuries from royalties and production taxes. It only makes sense to open and develop these areas. Think globally but drill locally!
Here’s my plan - drill everywhere, but at the same time implement ‘green’ plans - in other words, everything at the same time versus no drilling and talking about green with not much happening.
I’d even be willing to pay a small additional tax on a gallon of gas as long as it is set aside for nuke power and other initiatives specifically to reduce dependence on oil.
Also, I’m thinking that even if new drilling will not produce much for a few years, our intention to drill would be heard around the world and impact the price of oil and gas immediately.
This whole thing seems like a no-brainer to me.
Unfortunately, Clinton was drilling women instead of drilling for oil. Women should have been put off limits, not millions of acres of natural resources.
Here in Southern California we have many capped oil wells. There are some at Doheny Beach, within walking distance of my home. There are wells on- shore and near off-shore (example Huntington Beach) and all over Southern California. A friend has wells in Texas, all capped.
Talks over the years w/Feinstein’s and Boxer’s offices produced these answers: “Not profitable enough”, “Not enough refineries” and “Have to sell on world market so not worth it”.
The uncapped, pumping wells could certainly help out until new wells come on-line.
Something smells to high heaven.
I call for immediate drilling of Congress so brains can be inserted into their empty heads.
