Heard the defense lawyer of Lt. Col. Chessani on Michael Savage yesterday. Once the dust has cleared they are thinking about filing a lawsuit against Murtha.

Murtha has been asked to resighn by many here on FR already. :-) He's not listening. Unfortunately, his vothers keep putting him back in. I believe he has a Marine running against him in the upcoming election.

Nice to hear the defense attorney took the time to be on Michael Savage. I believe Savage has been quite instrumental in getting donations to the Thomas More Law Center for Lt. Col. Chessani through his radio show coverage.

Thanks for the ping, Lancey! Yesterday was Murtha's 76th birthday. How appropriate that charges would be dismissed against LTCol Chessani on the same day. I for one hope Murtha had an absolutely miserable day.

Red, that last photo shows Murtha speaking in an interview to George Steph with an ABC News ‘This Week’ backdrop behind him. Does that mean that he was speaking off the floor of Congress, where he is immune from suit? Is he therefore open to suit for defamation? (Hope, hope!)

You're correct, that is what defense counsel is arguing. Though the fact that most of his appearances were from his own campaign headquarters in Johnstown, Pennsylvania raised even more eyebrows (Murtha was up for reelection in '06). For instance...
