I remember when I was at the Union Gospel Mission this guy told me how he had been out of work for over a year. One of the reasons he couldn't get work is because homeless people are discriminated against in the workforce.
Um... yeah well then how did you get your crappy studio apartment and janitorial job in Duluth MN then? Did the magical bum fairy come by and just give it to you by magic? Your friend and most of the other bums at the mission probably were not hired because they were to busy getting intoxicated or stoned to look for work also they were probably nuts. Most people in shelters are like that. I know I used to volunteer for the homeless. A lot of them cant get jobs or hold them much less fill out a resume or application because they are messed up! They have mental illness, they booze out and dope up, I wouldn't hire this guy at all! He needs to sober up and take his meds and then he wont have that problem for long. Also if your going to apply for a better job, don't tell them you were laid off from BK and other crappy jobs or lived in a shelter, don't even tell them your a janitor. They want professionals. Also consider moving out of Duluth. I heard that place makes Bangor look like a GOP convention. Try Kansas Texas or Oklahoma.
One more thing, the rich are not a drag on the economy, lazy people who refuse to work and make an honest living are the problem. Don't blame the rich, they're the ones making jobs like the one your working at.
