Folks, WROW is about to be part of what promises to make national headlines as we join up with truckers and workin stiffs struggling with gas prices... we are going to shut down the New York State Government on June 19. The Capitol building will be ringed by an expected 400 big rigs, all leaning on their air horns at the same time, and nobody moves until the governor walks out the door and addresses our concerns.
Our convoy will assemble in Fultonville (the base will be at the Betty Beaver Truck Stop) Thursday June 19 and hit the road at 9:00 AM sharp. We expect to parade down State Street in Albany by 10:00 AM and encircle the Capitol Building. Join us at any point along the way in your own vehicle! Be heard! Be seen! Take back our state! ATTENTION TRUCKERS - FOR CONVOY DETAILS AND MORE INFORMATION (INCLUDING TOLL REIMBURSMENT) CALL (800) 724-5345.
Mark Williams will be with the convoy and reporting all morning long on the Scotto Show, both Mark & Scotto will then have live reports from the Capitol during the Glen Beck & Bill OReilly shows. Extensive coverage and your calls in the afternoon, beginning at 2:00 on the Mark Williams WROW show
CONVOY TO THE CAPITOL is an ad-hoc association of independent truckers and private citizens in cooperation with Truckers & Citizens of New York United and the Fultonville truck stops in association with the News/Talk 590 WROW AM Scott Scotto Allen Miller show and the Mark Williams Show
Listen to News/Talk 590 WROW for more details and continuing updates
Background: the state senate passed a gas tax holiday but assembly speaker Silver refuses to allow a vote in his house. Mark Williams listeners have been pelting his office with telephone calls and emails (and doing the same to other key assembly democrats). Mark has also been promoting assembly minority leader Jim Tediscos gas tax holiday petition, which some 40,000 people have already signed. The truckers have secured agreements from drivers nation-wide to completely boycott Manhattan Island if this doesnt work.
How much would we have to pay them to stick around the other 364 days a year...
Is this the same day they are legalizing pot?
Whatever it is, it's worth it!
If they really wanted to make an impact, do this in NYC.
Albany? Who cares?
OK, “truckers”... you wouldn’t by any chance be Teamsters would you? If so, who is it who your union is supporting for President? Who is it your union supported for Governor? For NYS Senator? Hello?
Albany is the capital, it's where all the legislators hold their special interest fundraisers and see thier girlfriends.
NYC is the media capital and financial capital.
Truckers cause pain there, you will see results and walltowall media coverage. The NewYorkers will themselves clamor for relief.
In Albany, nothing will happen. It’ll barely get covered by the national media.
Yep, right there on wall street! Diesel does NOT cost as much to refine as gasoline, ergo diesel has always been cheaper. Now, defying conventional wisdom, diesel is much more expensive. Keep on truckin’ ya’ll. Keep going until someone finally comes to their senses. I would go for wall street, then perhaps a trip to the oil companies themselves. A true convoy could really stop those oil companies journey to the refinery from the docks.
Read first, post later, gotta try it sometimes.
Truckers are thinking. After all, jihadis didn’t knock down the towers in Albany.
I posit eight million surly, obnoxious reasons the truckers did NOT target NYC...
This is stupid.
Cool. I support the truckers.
I think that oil companies making 5 cents a gallon profit yet big government making 40 cents a gallon is stupid.
Let me clarify...The method of protest is stupid, not the reason.
No way! It's fantastic. It needs to be done all over the country!!
What they do not realize is that they will be replaced my illegal aliens in a few years. The congress does not care enough to drill right here right now.
What? “Da Workin’ Man” isn’t happy with the liberal agenda? The MSM can’t publish stories like that! ;)
